Can anyone who has both the old and new pressing of BT tell me what if any packaging differences there are between the two pressings? Also where do we sign the poll for KT and the MA's to be pressed/repressed?

Wendy, as to the question of the shows the answer is a resounding NO! The worst part of all is that the moment the Truckers came out on stage is literally the moment the heartattack began. I walked out of the venue, began violently vomitting and was in an ambulance 30 minutes later. I need a shirt that reads "I drove 8 hours to see the Drive By Truckers and all I got was a lousy heartattack." Edie, Thanks very much, the feeling is mutual.

Hello everyone, Thanks so much for all of the kind words and encouragement over the last few days. It's been a hell of a week. I returned home to Louisville yesterday from Athens, Georgia where the heartattack and subsequent hospital stay happened. Turns out that I have 40% blockage in my main artery, but no damage to my actual heart. Now 40% certainly is not a good thing for someone whose 35 to have, but it's not irreversable by any means. I've got some changes to make and loads of follow up to do here in Kentucky. Unfortunately I have no insurance, so things may take way long

Can you imagine writing a song like "Cars" and then pretty much doing nothing with it? Unbelievable.

good thing pre sales are only 10% of the venue.

Yup, they'll be there!

RICHMOND VIRGINIA!!! Perfect for Wilco..........PIC
LouisvilleGreg replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Just A Fan
Alright boys, I'll be back in my old neighborhood for this. What a tiny venue for Wilco. This one should be golden. See ya'll there. -
I haven't logged in for a very, very long time. Nothing like a presale morning to get everyone all amped up. Looks like I'm in for Durham in row 12, making the triumphant return to RVA for what will be a very initmate show at the National and on to Bethesda row 3. Thanks to Courtney for her fast fingers. They kept me in the waiting room for sometime. They should play the Fugazi hit of the same name while you're in there chilling. See ya'll soon enough.

Anyone else on board for the Athens stand? At least a few of us around here are in, should be a blast. "The fourth night of my drinking" has got to be a Cooley song. Anyone hear that there'll be a whole second new album later in the year?
-
Kentucky still is nowhere near what they should (will?) be, but it's been an impressive week with big, big wins over North Carolina and now UCONN. They play erratic and inconsistent, especially when they have a sizable lead, but they also play tough down the stretch and John Wall very well may have the best season in UK history this year. He had 25 points in probably 26-28 minutes tonight and at the Garden to boot. Another big road game vs Indiana this Saturday. Going for 10-0. Keep it up Cats!

Lots of exciting news from the Dr. Dog camp, another new album in the can and impending tour dates in lots of smaller markets. Yea for Bloomington! Hey Everybody! It's very possible that we may have just finished our new album. It might even be likely. We'll see. You'll see. While all of us are seeing... we'll head out on the road next week for our final lap of 2009. A short jaunt to New Haven, CT, then down to Brooklyn and off to Chicago just for the night. After that we're taking a break. This one won't last too long, however so there a few things to tell you about. Chicago VIP Tickets

Band Names That Make You Uncomfortable
LouisvilleGreg replied to So Long's topic in Someone Else's Song
In the AC tradition there once was a very minor Louisville band called Bloodfart. Dr. Dog is probably the band that I love most with the name I hate most. I feel similarly about Drive-By Truckers. -
for the sake of not having to reread this long ass thread does anyone remember when "Anodyne" comes out? Or has it already?
-
I also really appreciate that they don't work from a setlist. At one point Cooley actually asked the audience what they wanted to hear. He complied with a smoking "Marry Me."
-
Long way to go there Sooie, it's only November. I'll think about you this Saturday when Lucero plays Louisville.

No he didn't, which is good because I don't drink, but how could I say no to the man? It was a one off show, a make up from when he was sick earlier in the year. I think they were heading back to Athens that night. Oh yeah they closed with "Angels and Fuselage," and it was just about perfect.

Saw the DBTs this weekend in Charleston, West Virginia from the front row and the band was in fine form. Cooley was on fire all night and played a new country ballad that is just stupid good. The venue was alcohol free, save for the band, who were throwing it down as much as usual. Cooley commented that it was like going to the zoo and seeing the monkeys, they can throw their shit at you, but you can't throw it back! Their were myriad sound problems and it was a seated theater and not a SRO venue, that made for a strange night. Also, the roots of "Let There Be Rock," were exposed as Patterson

That Kentucky game last night was about as exciting as an early season game as your likely to see. It wasn't well played in spurts and the refs muted their whistles in several instances, but the 18 point comeback, the lights out 3point shooting of Miami (OH.), the crowd and that ending was just ridiculously exciting. I'm still not so sure about all of these freshman and I see impending losses to UNC and UCONN on the horizon, but I love the emotion they played with, especially Wall. I mean that was his first game and he was beating his chest and carrying on like it was the Final 4. I dig it.

Hope it was a great one!

Dr. Dog based on the last three releases: "Easy Beat," "We All Belong" and "Fate."

That Misundestood - Impossible Germany - VC trifecta sounds great. Only 4 from WTA, nice variation overall.

1. Being There 2. YHF 3. Summerteeth 4. AGIB 5. A.M. 6. Sky Blue Sky 7. WTA I had been very undecided on how I compared SBS and WTA until recently. Although I was lukewarm to SBS after its release, as it followed up a pretty strong record, it certainly has had more staying power for me than WTA. If you toss in the SBS B-sides such as "Thanks I Get," "Let's Not Get Carried Away," and yes I'm even a fan of "Glad It's Over," I like it exponentially more than WTA. Also, I think I've fairly recently decided that I like A.M. more than both of the latter, so some shaking up in my 2009 rankings. It'

Remember that horrific video (and song) UH All Night? That was a true low point.

Your favorite 80's American "college rock" band
LouisvilleGreg replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I voted The Replacements, and though perhaps not as adventurous as others on the list, they, for me at least packed the most emotional wallop, and I still listen to them the most by far. A great, Louisville based mid-80's indie band was Squirrel Bait. They were moderately successful, though significantly smaller than the bands on the list. If you ever stumble across either of their releases on Homestead give them a chance. Good stuff.
