  1. I'm in the slightly let down camp. I have liked each release equally if not more than the one before up until this point. This is definitely a tougher appreciation record and not quite as instantly memorable as we all belong and fate. i'll be seeing the boys for the first time in a good while here in louisville in a couple of weeks and i'll holdout full judgement of the new tracks until after i get the live treatment.
  2. seems like a totally random choice of songs to pit against eachother. I really really like "Im Always In Love," especially the real uptempo rock version of it, but "Monday" was an early favortie for me and it always makes my night when they play it live, so it gets my nod.
  3. I heard "Corvette" playing at a Chilli's not long ago. Sort of freaked me out a bit.
  4. let's see newer releases: ted leo & the pharmacists - brutalist bricks dr. dog - shame, shame DBT - the big to do white stripes - under great white northen lights them crooked vultures - self titled Lucero - 1372 overton park older releases: the coup - pick a bibber weapon outkast - speakerboxxx/the love below the replacements - sorry ma forgot to take out the trash jawbreaker - everything kis
  5. The thing I catch myself wondering the most about the Golden Smog records is if the guys in Wilco at the time were pissed that Jeff used all of those brilliant songs on the GS albums and not the Wilco records. "Radio King" and "I Can't Keep From Talking" would've taken the second album on "Being There" to a whole other level. Again more recently I like "A Long Time Ago" more than most anything on SBS, which is roughly the same time period. Oh yeah and the other guys are pretty f'in great too, especially "Until You Came Along" and "Looking Forward to seeing you" I could listen to those songs al
  6. I want to buy it from the local store as they have been bleeding, but wondering if I shouldn't have gone ahead with kungfu. If it really is 1,000 and not 5,000, that just isn't very many at all. good luck to everyone, it's sort of like the day tickets go onsale, ou have to move fast.
  7. The pressing of this is only 1,000. That could very well sell out on opening day. i'm starting to worry about how many will be shipped per store. Looks like I'll have to do some lining up.
  8. Perhaps you haven't heard, but this already happened a few months ago, and to be technical it was "Anodyne's" vinyl debut.
  9. I've got the "Still Feel Gone / March" double lp and while it is undoubtedly one of the cooler pieces in my vinyl collection, it could stand for a remastering and get the royal repress treatment. It's downright criminal that "No Depression" isn't in constant press on vinyl. It's a perfect vinyl album and would probably sell steady numbers for decades to come. In reality all of this should have been done in 2002 (or was it '03) with the cd remasters and the best of double vinyl. I even think that's out of print now, as I aw it at a record store recently for $50 used. Somebody please get this do
  10. I'm more than a little worried about the fate of Richard, Ben and Miles now that they have split off on their own. They just don't seem ultimately crucial right now. I could be wrong, but Miles in particular may be the least important known character left.
  11. So is it safe to assume that Desmond has full knowledge of both timelines in both timelines? His coyness with MIB on the island was due to the fact that he was right where he wanted to be, and he obviously ran him over in the alt having knowledge of what he was back on the island. the Hurley/Libby alt story was well done. Desmond is seemingly the key to everything right now. He's determined to throw the whole world off of its axis. Illana blowing up seemed sudden. There has been a lot of investment and development of her character for her to just explode. It'll be interesting to see how the MI
  12. I tried to count recently and I'm up around 60 shows I think. I'll be the first to openly sdmit that many of the shows and even some of the tours blend together and I am one picky bastard about setlists, but the three shows I saw on this tour (Durham-Richmond-Bethesda) were knockouts. The breakdown sets were fantastic, especially the rarities and reworkings. First time I'd heard "Not for the Season" in ages, and the throwback "Spiders" was golden. "Someday Some Morning Sometime" was certainly a track I never thought I'd hear. Loved the generous length and variety of the shows and put me down a
  13. Looks like if hotels become truly scarce both Brattleboro, VT and Albany, NY are an hour each away. Not ideal, but not the end of the world.
  14. It was cool seeing Charlie and some of the others in the alt, but I for one don't care to see Boone or Shannon. At this point I really want full steam ahead action. The upcoming Hurley ep looks to be a good follow up to this week's very strong ep. I think yr right in that some want the alt to be the main timeline, especially Eloise, as I said I think she knows that she killed Daniel, and is glad that it has been reversed for now.
  15. I haven't watched the great r'n'r swindle in ages, maybe now's a good time.
  16. Damn I'm jealous as hell about this combo. Been into Lucero since the beginning and their new record is aces. Only a DBT fan in the past few years, but they've raced up my charts rapidly. Was drinking allowed in the venue? If so I can't imagine how ridiculous the crowd was. I've never seen more beer spilled and thrown at shows than at DBT and Lucero shows, it's almost a ritual. Did they play anything together?
  17. No more opening bands ever again please. I can't go back.
  18. i guess Wilcobase is all kinds of jacked up then.
  19. That was the first full band Cars since the Residency. They're really dusting off some oldies for this tour.
  20. I passed through once on a long road trip and easily found "the fountain" from "New Madrid". The main street through town runs right into it. I didn't have anybody to walk with me to it though.
  21. Yeah I'm already envisioning sleeping in my car, cause there's no way I'm paying that much for any hotel.
  22. Apparently the biggest band has yet to be announced? I'm not saying anything, I'm just saying.
  23. By far the best lineup yet for this yearly summer music and activism festival in downtown Louisville. Would love to see some of you here. http://forecastlefest.com/treasure_map/
  24. I've been trying to wrap my head around just how much Widmore and Eloise know in the alt? Here's the best I can figure. They were both on the island for a very long time at least from the 50's through the incident ('77). So with that knowledge we know that they had run ins with Locke, Jack, Kate Sayid and yes even Eloise killing Daniel. The next part may be a stretch, but if she took Daniel's journal as we saw her do, she would also have knowledge of 2004, 815, the freighter, etc. Assuming 1977 is where the divergent timeline split off after the incident, she would still know all kinds of vita
