Huge fan here as is evident in my numerous posts in this and other threads defending the band. I was just wondering for those other long-time fans on here what was the last song that KISS released that you were really into? It took me awhile to figure that out, and though not so great in comparison to '74-'77, I quite liked "Hide Your Heart" at the time it was released in '89. Actually that reminds me that the day "Hot In The Shade" came out was the day of the San Francisco Bay area earthquake, and also game one of the world series between the Giants and A's. Funny what you remember from youth

Now Paul glad to see you're back to seeing little ol' Wilco shows again, but you know that there's another show I'd rather hear about.

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, 11/7/09 NYC
LouisvilleGreg replied to LouisvilleGreg's topic in After The Show
To echo some earlier sentiments, and I admit being biased as a huge fan, but once he and his band call it quits for good, there truly wont ever be another like them. I mean the core of these guys have been playing together for 35 years now. And unlike the Stones, The Who, etc, their contemporary music and especially their live performances are as relevant as ever. I wish I had the means to see as many shows as I could, but I am eternally thankful for the dozen or so I have witnessed over the years. Those shows have brought out emotions in me, that I've never felt during any other concert, and -
Here's the latest news on the DBT's, including impending news of another 3 night stand at the 40 Watt in January. Heading out for a road trip this weekend to catch them in Charleston, West Virginia. Front row! Getting pumped just thinking about it. Word from the Hood - 11/04/09 Y'ALL: Decompressing from our late October run. Very happy with the shows on all levels. Don't think the band has ever played better than we have in the last six months. As we are winding down The Righteous Path Tour of shows and starting to gear up for next years' new releases and tours, we are all very excit

"Rocks" is my favorite with "Toys" a close second. I always liked the story below. How Aerosmith's Rocks Changed My Life By Slash Harp Magazine Alright, it was Aerosmith’s Rocks, and I first heard it when I was about 14 years old. I used to race BMX bikes and the older guys put it on, and it just grabbed me—F%@&, this is bad. I only got to hear it for like a second the first time. The second time I heard it was—there was this girl that used to hang around a certain group of friends, and she was probably the best-looking girl in school and in the neighborhood, and she’d just broken up

I wasn't even there, but the historic nature of this show in Madison Square Garden makes it one for the ages. It sounds as if Bruce pulled out all the stops to tackle such a sprawling, epic record. And how about "Thundercrack," to open. I lifted the post and setlist below from Backstreets. Tonight their doing "The River" in it's entirety and I believe a couple of our fellow VCers will be there. November 7 / Madison Square Garden / New York, NY Notes: Noting that there were only eight shows left on the tour, Bruce paused before the sixth song of his set on Saturday night at Madison Square Ga

Band members contributions you say, well, at least one of them (past tense) was very thorough about keeping such lists. If you do a little sleuthing, you just mind find that which I speak of.

Sounds like a conundrum for Dexter, everybody's favorite serial killing cop.
-
Don't you mean "It's good to be alone."
-
Let's see if they wanted to go ahead and tackle some other '73 era material they could do: "Zero & Blind Terry," "Seaside Bar Song," "Ballad of the Self Loading Pistol," aND "Thundercrack" to close. How does that sound?
-
"Every moment's a little bit later."

Paul, not to hijack the thread or anything but I'm gonna need you to be on your best with the cliff notes after that Springsteen playing the full River show. Someone else around here is going the TWTITESS show. I would just about die to see either. That will be a treat for the ages.
-
Needless to say, we're gonna need a full and detailed post-show report. You are a very lucky individual.
-
Now this is some unbelievably exciting news. I would die happy to see either one of these two performed. TWTITESS for its sheer power and ambitiousness and The River, because well damn it's 20 frickin' songs. Lucky, lucky New Yorkers. 11/3, NEW YORK: SPRINGSTEEN TO PERFORM THE WILD, THE INNOCENT & THE E STREET SHUFFLE AND THE RIVER AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN Expanding on the full album theme of late, it has just been announced that Bruce will perform two new full album set this upcoming weekend in New York City. 11/7 - The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle 11/8 - The River

Why was Dark Neon not on (the Album)?
LouisvilleGreg replied to Livin' in New Orleans's topic in Just A Fan
More Jeff screaming please. "Dark Neon," "Kicking TV", "Student Loan Stereo," "I'm A Wheel." It's an underused tool in the Tweedy canon. I like it very much, especially live. -
A friend of mine was approached by Ginsberg at a reading he did in Boston probably 15-20 years ago and asked if he minded if he gave him a kiss. My friend was probably barely even 18 at the time. He declined, though he said he was tempted to take him up on the offer.

I too, still don't know how to obtain this and have yet to even hear it. I'm dying over here. -
Paul, the four you're aware of plus Will is all. He did get to do shared vocals on one track, and I think he played guitar at one point as well. There was an exhaustive amount of switching instruments as you might imagine. The show is a bit long and uneven in its flow in places, but everyone seems to be giving it their all and having a swell time. Have a good time.
-
Wonder if they'll only do Levon's tunes? That would provide for a limited show.
-
I can't for the life of me imagine Phish playing "Rip This Joint."
-
soon enough.
-
Alright now, calm down, time to get back to reality.

I know we've discussed all of this a million times over, but there's almost an entire other album's worth of "unreleased" songs that can nearly stand toe to toe with the album proper. "Cars Can't Escape," "Venus Stopped The Train," "Magazine Called Sunset," "Not For The Season," "Won't Let You Down," to name a few. Most bands never write songs of the caliber of these in a lifetime and yet for Wilco, they were tossed off largely. Not too mention all of those unbelievably great early versions and alternate versions of eventual YHF tracks. That uptempo "Poor Places" is a great what might've been.

Monsters of Folk (James, Oberst & Ward)
LouisvilleGreg replied to Wild Frank's topic in Someone Else's Song
Lots of us VCers were there together down front in the 2nd non-pit row. The show was wildly up and down, with plenty of momentum challenges and blown opportunities. Of course the local love for Jim and the MMJ tunes was the highlight. "Golden," "Smokin' From Shootin," and "I Will Be There When You Die," were early highlights. The encore (see above), on the other hand was just about as over the top as it gets. The whole crowd was surging through the last few songs as the band invited about 20 or 30 costumed fans on stage to go bonkers while playing "RNR All Nite." Conor must've gotten ahold of -
After the Celtics, Magic and Cavs, the east, as always is wide open, so yeah I'll bite, the Wizards may finish in a 5 or 6 slot come playoffs.
