  1. this clip is from one of the links from Wilco's main site. the video is pretty weird...the camera guys are constantly in the way and the lights are artistically casting jeff in shadow most of the time. i didn't see it elsewhere on VC, but i may have missed it before due to either sun stroke or laziness. if it's already here somewhere, i apologize in advance. enjoy (or not)! http://www.fenslerfilm.com/videos/WILCOALTWYS.mov
  2. the wrens did a cool cover of that song on the second night of their run at schuba's a few months back. i never liked the song much before, but i can see the catchy-ness in it now.
  3. i'm in for the long haul...all three days. for those interested in wilco related music, don't forget about the blisters on the kiddie stage!
  4. when i first got it a long time back, i only listened to the first disc. in the last few years, i've been digging disc two more. overall, though, my vote today is with two..."dreamer in my dreams", "someday soon", and "why would you wanna live?" are on my all-time fave wilco songs list. but, ask me in a month, and i might say disc one. can you tell i'm as unpredictable as midwestern weather?
  5. brilliant! i've got verizon, and i've got some horrible midi tones: handshake drugs heavy metal drummer (complete with "ooh ooh, hey") at least that's what you said i am trying to break your heart (which is pretty cool b/c there is percussion...that's my wendy ringtone!)
  6. up (yeah, i like it too!) new adventures in hi-fi life's rich pageant
  7. regardless, you do know your stuff. glad that i could pay you the compliment.
  8. hey, just reporting what i found...i am guessing they are just saying that about the band because of the other bands of the gs members, most of which were considered "alt country"...whatever that means, anyway. but, kris, i am sure you probably already knew that, being that you are definitely more of a music authority than i.
  9. I just assumed that the covers of No Depression implied its death long ago...Everybody knows EC is my guy, but, a few years back, if you'd told me he'd be on the cover (as he is this past month) i would have laughed. Sorry if this has already been referenced...I checked around here and couldn't find any mention of it: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/16/arts/mus...amp;oref=slogin Discuss away.

  11. i've been listening to and enjoying pet sounds since childhood. while the messages sent by the songs didn't fully register until later, i think i pretty much "got it" by the time i was in high school. as far as it being a difficult album to love, i don't really think i agree with that as well. the sequencing of the songs, to me, is perfect and there is no one part, just like movements in a symphony, that doesn't fit. to me, that is what makes an album, and this one in particular, great. i'm not fighting you, bobbob. i'm just saying.
  12. file this under the "i don't know if anyone other than me cares" file: so, i just happened to be rereading tweedy's poetry book adult head and the poem entitled 'unlikely japan' caught my eye. in the poem, i noticed lyrics that appear in the final track ('wanted') on loose fur's current release. i have yet to hear 'impossible germany' to know if any lyrics from the aforementioned poem appear in the song, but i do know from previous posts that the main chorus line is "impossible germany, unlikely japan"... here's the poem, for those of you interested. hope i'm not breaking any rules by
  13. if anyone cares (please don't attack me, myspace haters!) there is one new track streaming at AD's myspace page. personally, i think it's beautiful.
  14. i was with you at the costello/toussaint show...probably the only show that would stand in my way of missing a chance at seeing wilco live.
  15. on behalf of those who couldn't be there, thanks for your pics and video!
  16. you really should! i've never been in elliott, but i hear the acoustics are great. plus, you could then make the short trip to lansing friday night. or, who knows? maybe there will be a chi-town one in between the two??? it would be amazing to meet in person the great girl who keeps our favorite band's forum interesting and informative! so, can we count you in, lou?
  17. this just in on high road touring's site! wilco wednesday, october 4 elliott hall of music west lafayette, indiana
  18. definitely one of the top five albums of the "rock era"...whatever that means. it's simply fantastic. i'm too tired to expound...just got back from niagara falls...7 hours, in a car, alone. i just felt i needed to contribute and back up one of my faves ever.
  19. he's coming to fort wayne. now there's a sign the end of the world is coming near.
  20. good night, all. sweet dreams...with wilco as the soundtrack!
