I'll make sure my passport is good to go.

Looks like Nels Cline and Julian Lang will be playing the Montreal Jazz Fest on 7/1/15 --- always wanted to make it to that fest.
-
^^ All good news. Definitely will watch the Santa Clara shows.
-
I threw an email to my wife who saw them in 92 (Sara is my wife's childhood friend and Steeleville is a one horse town in So. IL): I know my own older sister saw them a few times in the late 70s and early 80s too --- she was the one who turned me onto them.
-
I saw the title of the thread and was afraid that Bob Uecker died... Saw Dylan a few times and I was real up close -- when he use to do club shows. Since hardly anyone was there - I was able to walk right up in front at a Weir/Wasserman show - that was kinda of cool. Wilco and Tweedy shows, I guess too.
-
Ford is great -- oddly enough Haruf was the one who told me that I should read him. I reread a random story in Ford's Rock Springs every year or so.
-
Haven't gotten around to the above yet --- recently read Plainsong and Eventide --- nice to see others reading his stuff.
-
I never gotten around to see them, either. Watched the below the other night, again--- even by 1974 Moon seemed to be loosing steam -- still an okay show, though. I downloaded the show off of some site - the version on my hard drive seems to look better then the attached youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXPGtnNlgFw

I always have listened and enjoyed band since the 70s - but never read up on them, history-wise. Saw them live once back in the early 90s. It was funny that they talked about the whole majority male-based audience of Rush in the doc -- the two biggest Rush fans that I know are my sister and my wife.
-
Finally gotten around to watch Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage doc -- good stuff. Really didn't know anything about Rush, other than that they were from Canada. Peart definitely went through a rough spell for bit - it was nice to see how the band/organization waited it out and supported him when needed. Gene Simmons was actually not annoying to listen to - either was Billy Corgan - I even enjoyed Sebastian Bach's enthusiasm.

Looks like the Chicago Shows will be simulcasted in theaters. Not sure if this means that they won't webcast it, too. http://www.fathomevents.com/event/fare-thee-well Perhaps they will have better control of the content by having the shows simulcasted in theaters, rather than a webcast, where it can be more easily captured and shared. (Guess someone can go the Seinfeld route and capture it at the theater.) I am guessing they will be selling a box set of the shows in the future.

Fucking horrible news from the culinary world
calvino replied to PopTodd's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Yeah - I read that yesterday --- never did eat one his places. Guess he was protege of sorts of Trotter, too. All very sad stuff. -
I am currently drinking a Miller Lite now while watching the White Sox. Sometimes a cheap, somewhat drinkable beer - hits the spot. Lite is my goto softball playing beer during this time of year, too - so I usually have some in the fridge, during the sping/summer.
-
Just said that Candace Brightman will be doing the lights, again - at both locations - that is also cool. Also doing a whole new on-line ticket method --- like on-line mail order -- guess similar to what Phish does. (trying their best to cut out the scalping). Ticket prices similar Chicago. All good stuff. Now hopefully the Chicago shows won't be a complete cluster-fuck with ticket-less people.
-
Nope - same band that will be playing in Chicago will be playing the CA shows -- that's good.
-
Forgot about the whole Kimock/Lesh thing. I suppose Lesh never had any intention to play these shows --- I assume they would have gotten a different guitar player, other than Kimock - if Lesh really wanted to play.
-
No Lesh -- that sucks. I can't see these tickets being in demand as much as the Chicago shows. If I got shut out of Chicago, I don't think this show would ease my soul (so to speak). I am not a fan of Mayer -- but I thought the Mayer/Weir performances a bit ago were pretty good.
-
Guess Lambert and Gans are going to make an announcement on XM at 2pm(Central) --- read that it's going to be CA shows announcement.
-
I happen to listened to 4/5/69, while prepping the Easter feast, this past Sunday --- Jerry plays slide on a Hard to Handle in that show, too --- wasn't very good - though unique to hear. Guess he was just trying out his slide chops during April of 1969. (overall 4/5/59 is a great show, though)

Yeah - Would have be cool to see a concert like at the Metro. --- great pic - must admit, I get a headache just looking at it, it had to be a loud show. -
TWEEDY March 29, 2015 - Omaha, NE Sokol Auditorium

Not sure --- but if one pops up, the link will be posted in the In a Future Age (Discussion & posting of audio/video torrents) Forum. -
I know I said this countless times before --- but the above was my first show --- looking forward to it.
-
Enjoying the below after hosting an Easter feast --- potent but pretty smooth and drinkable for a high alcohol content brew. Still haven't made it to their Chicago brewery --- friends have, though - all say it's quite the site.

I don't have a problem with the handling of Bryant - I just happen to read a an article in the Trib this morning, where Bryant said he isn't happy about it (and I do realize there is no crying in baseball) - I realize it was a business decision - and probably the right one. He has definitely proven himself, from a hitting perspective, at least, this spring, to make the team on opening day, though.
-
Seriously - White Sox in 4th - wow. Interesting how the Cubs handled Bryant, between that and the renovations, the Cubs seem to be on shaking ground heading into the season, from a front office perspective - but both Chicago teams should be fun to watch this year, for a change. (haven't been following it close enough to come up with any predictions.)
