Fucking horrible news from the culinary world
calvino replied to PopTodd's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Yeah - I read that yesterday --- never did eat one his places. Guess he was protege of sorts of Trotter, too. All very sad stuff. -
I am currently drinking a Miller Lite now while watching the White Sox. Sometimes a cheap, somewhat drinkable beer - hits the spot. Lite is my goto softball playing beer during this time of year, too - so I usually have some in the fridge, during the sping/summer.
-
Just said that Candace Brightman will be doing the lights, again - at both locations - that is also cool. Also doing a whole new on-line ticket method --- like on-line mail order -- guess similar to what Phish does. (trying their best to cut out the scalping). Ticket prices similar Chicago. All good stuff. Now hopefully the Chicago shows won't be a complete cluster-fuck with ticket-less people.
-
Nope - same band that will be playing in Chicago will be playing the CA shows -- that's good.
-
Forgot about the whole Kimock/Lesh thing. I suppose Lesh never had any intention to play these shows --- I assume they would have gotten a different guitar player, other than Kimock - if Lesh really wanted to play.
-
No Lesh -- that sucks. I can't see these tickets being in demand as much as the Chicago shows. If I got shut out of Chicago, I don't think this show would ease my soul (so to speak). I am not a fan of Mayer -- but I thought the Mayer/Weir performances a bit ago were pretty good.
-
Guess Lambert and Gans are going to make an announcement on XM at 2pm(Central) --- read that it's going to be CA shows announcement.
-
I happen to listened to 4/5/69, while prepping the Easter feast, this past Sunday --- Jerry plays slide on a Hard to Handle in that show, too --- wasn't very good - though unique to hear. Guess he was just trying out his slide chops during April of 1969. (overall 4/5/59 is a great show, though)

Yeah - Would have be cool to see a concert like at the Metro. --- great pic - must admit, I get a headache just looking at it, it had to be a loud show. -
TWEEDY March 29, 2015 - Omaha, NE Sokol Auditorium

Not sure --- but if one pops up, the link will be posted in the In a Future Age (Discussion & posting of audio/video torrents) Forum. -
I know I said this countless times before --- but the above was my first show --- looking forward to it.
-
Enjoying the below after hosting an Easter feast --- potent but pretty smooth and drinkable for a high alcohol content brew. Still haven't made it to their Chicago brewery --- friends have, though - all say it's quite the site.

I don't have a problem with the handling of Bryant - I just happen to read a an article in the Trib this morning, where Bryant said he isn't happy about it (and I do realize there is no crying in baseball) - I realize it was a business decision - and probably the right one. He has definitely proven himself, from a hitting perspective, at least, this spring, to make the team on opening day, though.
-
Seriously - White Sox in 4th - wow. Interesting how the Cubs handled Bryant, between that and the renovations, the Cubs seem to be on shaking ground heading into the season, from a front office perspective - but both Chicago teams should be fun to watch this year, for a change. (haven't been following it close enough to come up with any predictions.)
-
hope everything was well grounded - yikes.
-
My local place was out the Fresh Squeezed - he said his supplier is out of stock --- picked up the Union Jack - don't think I ever had it, before ----- the Union Jack was only about 2 bucks cheaper than the Sculpin -- I actually enjoy the Ballast's Big Eye more than the Scuplin and it's about $5 or so cheaper. My go to IPA's are Bells Two Hearted and Stone IPA. I belong to a 'mug club' at my local brew pub (Flossmoor Station) --- I never realized that there were 'trading circles' amongst drinkers, before I became a member a couple of years ago. Every couple of months the members get togeth

Listening to the above on Spotify --- decent comp (just came out to celebrate the 50th). Nice to see some Brent tunes in the mix, too. Probably won't buy it, though will seek it out from the library --- on Spotify it sounds great- I imagined the actual discs will even sound better.
-
It looks like Indiana will be adding the 'anti-discriminatory' language to the bill - so maybe the show will go on. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-indiana-religious-freedom-law-20150331-story.html

I am listening to a 9/72 show tonight, too - 9/27/72 - Dick's Pick 11.
-
The new one did mesmerize the kids into silence and relaxation on the little road trip --- so it's good for that, at the very least.
-
Listening to DylanRadio.com this morning and the played Dylan's version of Restless Farewell from Sinatra's 80th birthday tribute -- great rendition. Heading on southern road trip this evening -- will listen to Shadows again - at the very least it may help put the kiddo's to sleep. Do enjoy the cd, though. Video of Restless Farewell performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F44DBpIyAh0

I should be getting the new one in the mail tomorrow --- looking forward to it. She did a Tiny Desk (npr) somewhat recently - very nice stuff. http://www.npr.org/event/music/302900658/courtney-barnett-tiny-desk-concert

I wonder who gets the money from the auction --- do the 4 members and Garcia estate split it up among themselves? I guess there is still a 'Grateful Dead Staff or Organization', perhaps they get a cut . I wonder if Hunter or Barlow get a cut, too. I don't remember the toilet being up for auction - that's weird.

Last week may have been my worst ever
calvino replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Definitely an interesting read -- sorry about the bad week, Crow --- condolences. -
I didn't know crap about him, though after hearing the tunes while watching the documentry, I kept thinking "oh, I know that song" over and over again. Also, you're most welcome Sir Stew.
