  1. In the early to mid 80's, I use to watch him race at the Illiana Speedway in Schererville, IN; before he hit the NASCAR circuit.
  2. At the the http://dozin.com/jers/guitar/history.htm site it states: "March and April (1971) Jer switches to a custom built guitar. Said to be a Alembic project" It looks like it is a Guild or Gibson, though.
  3. Believe it's an SG - don't think I ever seen play one before.
  4. Had a Pink Lady this morning -"pretty neat, pretty neat; pretty good, pretty good; alright"
  5. In theory, these hearings are the only way for the public to find out what happened in an event - it usually turns into a political circus, which is unfortunate. As a citizen, I want to know what happen. I suppose one can take the word of the State Department, the Defense Department, the Executive Branch, etc...but I believe as being part a democracy, I want my Representative to ask some questions when somebody or some Department f's up. If in these hearing, it's determine no mistakes are made - great - if some mistakes were made, learn from them and don't make them again.
  6. If Hawk Harrelson was calling that game, he would have had a heart attack from yelling so much - Wow that was a bad call...
  7. I think one has to learn from mistakes made. Of course it will not bring anybody back, but it may prevent other tragedies like it. Public hearings to figure out what went down is the only way the public is going to find out anything. If some feet have to raked over the coals, so be it. I am a Democrat, but if I was at the table asking question, I would want to know everything. And of course the GOP is using the event to score points - that's what they are very good at - shaping the narrative - something I wish the Democrats were better at. And from the very beginning, the Obama administ
  8. Definitely need to find out what happen in Bengazi. The procedure could be done without so much grandstanding - but all the facts should and need to come out. At times, it does appear this is being done less for the relatives involved, but for politically reasons - but that's the name of the game and facts are facts.
  9. The Stones played No Expectations for the first time on this tour on the 8th in San Jose. Would have been cool to hear Rutili play it.
  10. Sorry, sorry - fruit wise - though I'd take a good Minneola over a lobster or another viewing of Godfather any day - With the sex bit, guess it depends on with who and when...(Kush is a whole other thing)
  11. Wait - Pink Lady boobs or apples? Nothing better than a really good Minneola orange.
  12. David Lemieux talks about Cornell and other reels that are missing below, as well as the new boxset (by way of Dead.net): http://www.relix.com/features/2013/05/07/beyond-cornell-david-lemieux-on-the-grateful-dead-archives-and-may-1977
  13. Okay, that's what I thought - I need to reread that story. Was it in the interview with Betty?
  14. What's up with the Betty Boards that are missing from the vault - does someone have them and wants money for them (David Lemieux has said numerous times that the Dead won't pay for their own reels) or are the original reels missing, outright?
  15. http://www.pophistorydig.com/?tag=rolling-stones-steel-wheels-tour Interesting piece about the ways the Stones generated their money over the past 25 years - I guess we'll see how this latest tour fares.
  16. I don't remember being that much (but I'm sure they were) - I was near the 20th row center, too - Did you drive up to Alpine to see them or did you see them in Indiana? I saw them at Alpine.
  17. Yep, I remember those jokes. I think Letterman had a bunch of bits on them.
  18. Going through some boxes in the garage, I came across the below, today - bought it the 1st time I saw the Stones, in 89. I don't remember the tickets being too bad, though I was making about $3.50 an hour. I think they were less than $40 or so, maybe even less than $30. Anyway below is a bandana.
  19. I listen to about half of the Oakland show, decent sounding tape, the 2nd source - performance was just okay - a bit of plodding along. I haven't bothered to read any of Lefsetz's pieces on the recent tour, perhaps I should, but I am sure it's the same old predictable crap that he always writes.
  20. One of my favorite performance of the song was in St. Louis, 1999 - when they were opening for REM. It seemed like he still had a chip on his shoulder towards St. Louis/Belleville area. It is the perfect way to start the Being There record, too.
  21. I did check that book out once and read it - need to pick it up some day.
  22. Maybe, make sure the guitar strap is on securely . I am sure he was part of the studio set up for the records, too - that may have been interesting to read about. I
  23. I thought he dealt with Jerry's gear after Parish and Mickey had a falling out over the drum setup.- could be wrong though. Hell, a chapter on setting up the Wall of Sound would have been cool....
