  1. Well I never considered myself as a "Deadhead with deep pockets" - more so a sucker for a cool box-set - I do enjoy the books that come with these types of sets - the other stuff I can do without. $200 is a lot of dough, though. I think the Dead organization is as involved with this set as Rhino is. Came across the below today - I don't think I ever seen it before - pretty fun/different. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0Ndlmko_ek&feature=related
  2. Nope - alive and kicking - he has a new auto-bio out. Haven't gotten around to it, yet. I heard that he sat in with either 7-Walkers or another Dead related band, the night after the Vibes fest.
  3. http://dead.net/spring1990 The next box set installment.
  4. That's great - this is why I was supporting Chicago in their quest for the 2016 Summer games. To get to the proposed structure that would have hosted the opening ceremony and other events would have been a 10 minute walk for me. Sure it would have been a headache, with the construction and all the other tangibles that go with hosting the games, but It would have been great to take my kids to some Olympic games, plus all the shots of London on the TV have been great - would have been great to see Chicago in the spotlight, too... Hope you enjoy games, Mrs. S.P. And congrats to Phelps! The wh

  6. "abortion" (the Stones bit in the New Yorker article is the only part I didn't enjoy - seemed out of place and forced - but who cares.)
  7. Regarding the TRI show, Justin Kreutzmann was on the XM Tales show this past weekend discussing the show - looking forward to. I am interested to hear what Bobby Keys has to say.
  8. http://www.politico....0212/72297.html Well that's because he more worried about the middle class.
  9. You can purchase the mp3 (or lossless) of the Geneva show - the performance includes Laminated Cat and an acoustic version of Spiders. Below is the Wilco site http://wilco.kungfustore.com/category/491-roadcase/product/3728-july-8-2012-geneva-il-wilr02 Download discusion is here: http://viachicago.org/topic/48136-wilco-officially-released-live-shows/
  10. I happen to be watching the 7/19/89 Alpine boot now. Agree with the West LA Fadeaway --- great, great version. That JGB 91 release is indeed great - never gotten around to see JGB back in the day, which is a shame.
  11. It is on the Red Rock and Geneva downloads, will that suffice?
  12. Perhaps this may be blasphemy, but I wish there could be a moratorium on any public performance of Hey Jude - Paul can still play it in any of his own concerts, if he wants. I thought the rest was okay. The lighting of the torch was pretty cool.
  13. Have you heard the new record, yet? I haven't gotten around to getting it.
  14. Regarding WCPT, not a big fan of Miller, Schultz is okay for about 5 minutes and Press and Hartmann are pretty good. I got burnt out on radio and TV political discourse right after President Obama was put in office - too much of the same thing over and over. I don't get MSNBC, so I do not watch Maddow too often, but when I do she seems fine.
  15. Those comments in the Vegan review are great. A very pleasant discussion.
  16. Below is the full quote taken in context. Of course, it's politics 101 to create ads out of quotes taken out of context....both sides do it. I am glad the President is pushing back, though. I am sure Romney will get his chance to push back on an ad about him. http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/07/13/remarks-president-campaign-event-roanoke-virginia
  17. That would be cool. I wonder how long they have been recording their own shows, though. Perhaps, all bands always record their own shows - I don't know.
  18. Well that's interesting - the price is decent enough. I will probably just stick with the AUD. recordings, though. I bet they won't change their taping policy, but perhaps their method of sharing might change. Hopefully they won't go by the way of the Allman Brothers.
  19. I thought John sounded and played okay - I only saw him once with DSO and that was in 98 or 99. I thought the DSO show was boring and left at set-break. But at the Furthur show I thought he played some inspiring stuff (esp. on Dew). I probably won't be seeing them again any time soon (this past week's show was my first Furthur show), but it was a fun night to hang out with some friends. Plus it was the first time since the Terrapin Station weekend at Alpine in 02, that I felt I was at a Grateful Dead show. The whole scene was pretty fun.
  20. Hot Tuna, great, great band - but I think that may be a whole new band, right? They both were done with the Airplane for the most part, when Hot Tuna was their main outlet. Though I could be way off there..,
  21. I thought you were going to say the below line made you sick, Tweedling.
