I wonder if some of the Ed Sullivan' sets have been saved and they reused it? Regardless, great performance.

For some reason I thought of Steely Dan, too. The Cure were/are huge in the Chicago area. It seemed like everyone in my high school during the mid-eighties were fans.

That was pretty cool.

My mom and dad read it - I always get a kick out it when they point out a panel to me. The comic makes them laugh, so it's good in my book. from the AP

I didn't see the video, but I agree with you SirStew, he definitely needs to go and I have mixed emotions how his legacy should be played out. I wonder how much actual "game time" coaching Paterno's has done this year. Every game I have watched he seems to just watching it up in the booth with out any headphones or anything - I realize he has health issue that prevent him to be on the side line - but at least put on set of head phones. Below is Rick Telander's view. Obviously, he has been a critic of the "big business" of NCAA sports. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/8697102-419/penn

There is a (Jackson) Park District lot directly south of the Museum of Science and Industry - it is a short walk to the museum. It's a $1 an hour (it use to be free...) Bring your boots and walk around Jackson Park. Osaka Gardens is a five minute walk from the lot - it's nice, even in the winter. The Around the World at the Museum is okay. I must admit I was slightly disappointed. It's worth a visit, though. Haven't checked out the Dr. Seuss exhibit, yet. My wife and kid are planning to go tomorrow (It's a free day - Oct. 31st). If they make it, I let you know how they thought it was. We al -
I never got into Matthews' music, but I give him a pass - respect his intial "grassroots approach" to stardom - of course when he got there.....

90's were good - though I could have done without the Spin Doctors (more importantly I wish WXRT would drop them from their current playlist)

That gave me a good laugh. Wow.

Not a big fan of limited editions. I did receive the Almanac via email yesterday - it looked prett cool. Still kinda like the paper format through the mai, though.

Bromberg showed up and played a surprise short opening set before a Dylan show and sat in on two in 1997 at the Metro. At the time I did not know much about him. It was cool to see, lots a people around me were very excited. One of the few shows I was at that a rumor was floating around on the floor about a surprise guest. When a roadie brought out a mic stand and Dylan's band came out without Dylan, the crowd started to go a little nuts and out came Bromberg. Must admit, I still haven't gotten around to purchase any of Bromberg's stuff. -

Sundown is one of the earliest songs I remember growing up. -

Good read - I thought I heard about the Bragg thing before, too, but like Beltmann I don't recall where. McGurk's

Hamilton did look pretty bad last night at the plate - great game to watch last night, though.

Finally watched it - great stuff. Production was incredible and I love looking at the close-ups of all the guitars.

I like that one.

bbop - when you mentioned Lincoln Hall "server", I thought you were talking about their waitresses/waiters and I thought "well that's an odd complaint" - haven't finished my first cup of coffee, yet... Definitely gonna a tough ticket. Lincoln Hall is a great venue, it would be great to see Wilco there.

Did the record company or the band pick it for a single? I am sure the band had some say, I'd imagine, either way. I like the song, especially the live versions when Bennett was still in the band.

I have been going through the Zeppelin collection in order of release this week - (listening to this one out of sequence, though - after House of Holy.) np

When I got in my car this morning and turned the car on, Capitol City was playing on my radio (XM, Outlaw Country station) - nice way to start the day. Good tune.
