Your favorite concert openings, enterances ever?
calvino replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I am saw them at a ball park in South Bend, IN last year and I did not notice that...that sucks. That would have been cool to see. -
Today I will go with: 1. Summerteeth 2. Being There 3. A Ghost is Born 4. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 5. Sky Blue Sky 6. A.M. 7. Wilco (The Album)

I never did either. My brother in law has it and I listened to some of the extras - they were okay, though I think a few, if not all, of the Stones extras tracks were on the Gimme Shelter Criterion release. Another thing regarding the Exile release, as people stated in this thread, the DVD that came with the Super Deluxe was piece of crap for the most part - I streamed it on Netflix one afternoon - I am glad I did not spring for the Exile Super Deluxe edition.

I listened to it again this morning and the bonus disc does leave a lot to be desired and the vocals are the biggest culprit. I don't think it was a complete waste, though - I still like the music and the two "authentic" songs on the disc are good. I guess there is talk off a Some Girls deluxe edition, hopefully they will do better with that one, but I am not counting on it.

I guess I need to listened to the bonus disc, again. I don't remember hating it per-say, then again I have been known to be a Stones apologist.

I am not particularly into skating at all, but this was a great documentary. Great soundtrack.

Wilco Rolling Stone Weekender Ferienpark Fest Weißenhäuser Strand on the Ostseeküste Wangels, Germany November 7, 2009

This seems like it from last year or so. I never seen it before. I always forget what the policy is for Wilco videos - take off it mods., if need be.
-
I think I only listened to the 2nd disc twice or so.

My kid will be 2 next month and he has already been to one Wilco show and a Tweedy solo show - Gotta start em off young (plus it's sometimes tough to find a baby sitter .)

Malkmus/Jicks - Mirror Traffic - NPR First Listen
calvino replied to parisisstale's topic in Someone Else's Song
Holding out to listen until I get the cd (I don't why). Definitely will try to catch the Vic show - the only time I saw Malkmus and the Jicks was at the Vic a few years ago - great show. -
You can pretty much guarantee they will play "I'm the Man Who Loves You". You can check over on Wilcobase for all the recent setlists. http://wilcobase.com/

remastered, re-packaged, deluxe, super legacy edition
calvino replied to Wild Frank's topic in Someone Else's Song
Got that Who email today, too. Probably won't get the deluxe, already spent too much money on other stuff this year. It looks great though, it's a great album. I am about 100 pages into Moon: The Life and Death of a Rock Legend. -
I tried a few times to get through the review and it didn't hold my interest. I probably will try again, though - perhaps.

I am pretty bad at sticking with reading one book at a time, so I will put down 1919 for a week or two and go onto another book. Each time I go back to the 1919 book, it takes me time to go back into the book to figure out the character's relationships again, which is why it is taking me so long to get through it. When I saw your post, I thought I mentioned that I was reading USA in this thread and I did a search and found the post from around February. I didn't realize it was that long ago. While reading Dos Passos' Trilogy, I happen to watch Warren Beatty's Reds movie - good companion

I am just about done with Book 2 - think I am going to take a break for bit before I venture into 3. Good, interesting read. Like his style and form.

Nels at the Village Vanguard this week
calvino replied to Three dollars and 63 cents's topic in Just A Fan
Thanks for the heads up - I will try to catch the webcast. -
http://wilcobase.com...p?event_key=626 It looks like it was in 1999, a few days after my first Wilco show.

I think Wilco still has room to "grow" into a bigger fan base. I don't know if they are ready to sell out Madison Square Garden (by themselves). They played to an non sell-out crowd at UIC Pavilion a couple years ago and that was in Chicago, granted it was a 2nd night of a two night run. I wish them all the success that they can muster up. I am sure Tweedy will still play solo shows at small, out of the way places, like he always has been.
