  1. Like the stage back drop - though it kinda looks like he is playing in front of some sort of detention center. Over the years, his guitar playing does seem to get better and better. Thanks for the post.
  2. It would be pretty funny to see Aretha in a Wal-Mart aisle. Good read.
  3. 1. Around the A.M release. I just got into Uncle Tupelo about few months before they broke up. 2. I saw Tweedy solo a few times at Lounge Ax in 90's before I saw the whole band perform. First Wilco show was August 19, 1999 at Riverport in St. Louis - they were opening for REM. It was one of my more memorable birthdays.
  4. Yeah - I noticed that this morning. I don't remember if there was VC link before at the old site.
  5. My 12 year niece was visiting last summer and we took her downtown. They happen to be shooting the Transformer movie - it was pretty cool seeing a bunch of beat up cars hanging from a draw bridge that was up. They were also shooting a bunch exploding scenes on the River at Michigan and Wacker. She thought it was the bee's knees seeing the Bumblebee car.
  6. Not for the Season was a highlight for me, great guitar work. New songs sounded great. After he did a J. Lo and Jackson impersonation, I was hoping for a Tyler' one. We listened to Kicking Television on the way up there and for some reason I thought of Jeff's banter regarding American Idol at one of those shows. When he started to talk about it about on Friday night, I was thinking he may need to go to some A.I. support group. But, he is not ashamed and he is not in any denial - which is good. He also did a great Mr Burn's "excellent" impersonation. Only spent less than 24 hours u
  7. Always wanted to see a show there - gonna try.
  8. That's good, I like Spader.
  9. It's been 10 years since I last saw Bennett play. Damn shame.
  10. I don't think he moved back - he played the Chicago Theater last week. The song he wrote about the Cubs is pretty cheesy - but then again the Cubs are pretty cheesy.
  11. Did anybody catch Dave Douglas' Brass Ecstasy - curious to know your thoughts - read they did a Wilco cover.
  12. I was flipping through the Jack Johnson Session's booklet again this morning and forgot that there are quotes from Nels.
  13. Never heard of Stetson - cool shot of him playing on his website. I need to check him out. Forgot to write, listening to:
  14. When I think of 120 Minutes, Kevin Seal comes to my mind - it was fun to watch.
  15. Well that's a bit odd, not sure if it was a wise decision, though. Perhaps he just didn't want too make another trip back to Chicago, to many bad memories.
  16. In addition to A-Man's suggestions: Empire Burlesque World Gone Wrong (all solo acoustic cover songs)
  17. Sounds like an awesome trip - safe travels.
  18. Yeah, it was 1984 on XRT' Flashback this morning and of course they mentioned Goodman's passing. The wife, kid, and I spent a good part of this morning watching some clips of his performances on the computer. He was a hell of a guitarist, too - my wife mentioned his smile. Good stuff.
  19. Steve Goodman wrote some great, funny songs.
  20. How do you like the new Cline,Berne, Black disk, $3.63? I haven't gotten around to get it, yet.
  21. Nice interview, now I understand why Dave Douglas is playing Solid Sound. Margherita needs to book him in Chicago more often.
  22. It's a good version, nice long slide solo by Rich. Before the song, Chris mentions that they recently played the song with Gregg Allman and they have been playing it since.
  23. It's nice sounding tape. Nice banter: "You know you are in Los Angeles, when you smell the expensive stuff."
