  1. When I got into college in 1990, a kid on my floor had the tapes of one of the above shows. At this point, I did not have many tapes and I was a bit of newbie - When I was listening to the tapes I was surprised to hear Touch of Grey and Throwing Stones, since it was a 1982 show, of course as time went by and I started to figure out this was a pretty common practice for them.
  2. I did catch some of the stream through out the weekend, Pitchfork did a good job with it. That rap group on Sunday afternoon was something else - sheesh.
  3. They sure took a long time to tune/break between songs in 1970 - listening to 11.8.70 - great show. Haven't purchased a Road Trip cd in a while, I think I am going to get this latest one. I don't have many 82 shows.
  4. Well it looks like I will finally see a show at the Ryman. Bit bummed because I had a ticket in Section 7 /Row D/Seat 5, which is basically the front row and lost them in a computer snafu. Oh well, I did end up with a decent ticket.
  5. That's cool. I remembering getting Murhpy's rookie card when I was a kid, it was one of my most prized possessions for a while. Even bought a special case for it. All my cards are still at my parents house - need to dig them out. Nice to know he has a good taste in music.
  6. Friday is the only day that is appealing to me, if I didn't have to work, I would probably head there. But as it is, I couldn't get there until after 6pm or so.
  7. Yeah one would think I would have learned that after the first vacation attempt, but the 2nd attempt was during a trip to the Mesa Verde area and I figured the scenery would be a good fit with the book, but it kinda had the opposite affect.
  8. Styx also didn't want to wait for DeYoung to get over an illness before a tour, they went out without him, though there were other issues going on, too.
  9. I tried reading Blood Meridian a few times and gave up - need to try again. On two of the occasions, I brought the book on vacation with me and realized its not much of a vacation read.
  10. That' great - nothing here, oh well.
  11. Like the stage back drop - though it kinda looks like he is playing in front of some sort of detention center. Over the years, his guitar playing does seem to get better and better. Thanks for the post.
  12. It would be pretty funny to see Aretha in a Wal-Mart aisle. Good read.
  13. 1. Around the A.M release. I just got into Uncle Tupelo about few months before they broke up. 2. I saw Tweedy solo a few times at Lounge Ax in 90's before I saw the whole band perform. First Wilco show was August 19, 1999 at Riverport in St. Louis - they were opening for REM. It was one of my more memorable birthdays.
  14. Yeah - I noticed that this morning. I don't remember if there was VC link before at the old site.
  15. My 12 year niece was visiting last summer and we took her downtown. They happen to be shooting the Transformer movie - it was pretty cool seeing a bunch of beat up cars hanging from a draw bridge that was up. They were also shooting a bunch exploding scenes on the River at Michigan and Wacker. She thought it was the bee's knees seeing the Bumblebee car.
  16. Not for the Season was a highlight for me, great guitar work. New songs sounded great. After he did a J. Lo and Jackson impersonation, I was hoping for a Tyler' one. We listened to Kicking Television on the way up there and for some reason I thought of Jeff's banter regarding American Idol at one of those shows. When he started to talk about it about on Friday night, I was thinking he may need to go to some A.I. support group. But, he is not ashamed and he is not in any denial - which is good. He also did a great Mr Burn's "excellent" impersonation. Only spent less than 24 hours u
  17. Always wanted to see a show there - gonna try.
  18. That's good, I like Spader.
  19. It's been 10 years since I last saw Bennett play. Damn shame.
  20. I don't think he moved back - he played the Chicago Theater last week. The song he wrote about the Cubs is pretty cheesy - but then again the Cubs are pretty cheesy.
  21. Did anybody catch Dave Douglas' Brass Ecstasy - curious to know your thoughts - read they did a Wilco cover.
  22. I was flipping through the Jack Johnson Session's booklet again this morning and forgot that there are quotes from Nels.
