  1. Yeah, you're right. They are extending Torn and Fray a bit here, though. Page is sounding great in the mix.
  2. I heard the first couple of the songs. It's good that they got horn players, they definitely need them for this album. This album doesn't lend itself too much for extended "jamming", though.
  3. Thought this was a bit interesting. The above was played tonight (10.31.09) in Chicago by Bob Dylan and his band. Have heard it yet, though. Below is from another board.
  4. I think Clapton had to cancel, an illness.Clapton Pulls Out of Rock Hall Concert
  5. Here is it - not the best quality, though (YouTube link). Beck does wail, of course.
  6. George Jones/Tammy Wynette had a few good ones. "We're gonna Hold on" and "The Ceremony" to name a couple.
  7. The Black Crowes Cabin Fever DVD Trailer Looking forward to this.
  8. I don't own Dylan, but I listen to Self Portrait; not as often as other albums, but often enough. Really enjoy: (taken of Wiki.)
  9. XM/Sirius will be broadcasting the shows from this weekend. Haven't listened to Phish in a while, but I will probably tune in for a bit. XM/Sirius link
  10. Same here...I think "Phone my family Tell 'em I'm lost on the sidewalk And no it's not okay" is my favorite Wilco verse. Love hearing it live.
  11. Yeah, I have been doing the same thing. It seems like the person is seeding all the 71 shows one by one. A good thing...I am having issues downloading 4.26.71, it seems to be taking forever for some reason. The Fillmore East: April 1971 [bOX SET], that the Dead released a while back, is one of my favorites. It will be nice to have the entire run.
  12. The session with Paul Quinichette, Black Pearls, and Dakar stand out for me. Especially the session Quinichette, because their playing is so different, yet it sounds great together. One item that I am surprised about these Prestige recordings is the presence of Mal Waldron throughout all the sessions. I was only familiar with Waldron with his work with Steve Lacy, it's nice to hear his playing in these Prestige sessions. Waldron's lead sessions stand out for me. Legendary Prestige Quintet Sessions by Miles Davis is a great set. Chronicle: The Complete Prestige Recordings (1951-1956) was pret
  13. In McNally's book A Long Strange Trip, he writes that Keith listened/knew of the Dead prior to joining. The band did give him a bunch of tapes to get him more familiar with their music, but I assume that is very common with a new additions. I do seem to remember reading that he was not familiar with the Dead's music, too. Perhaps getting the tapes from the band brought on this assumption amongst people.
  14. Below is a link of some suggestions of Wilco shows with Bennett in the band. The last Lounge Ax show is great (though a bit sloppy), as mentioned in the below link. http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/40180-bennetts-best-shows/page__p__1336368entry1336368 Lounge Ax Show http://wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=159
  15. Glad you guys enjoyed the show. That second set looks good, I don't think I ever heard that show before. Perhaps I need to give DSO another shot. I saw a picture of crowd over at the DSO page - it definitely looked like it was packed.
  16. I noticed in the (Umm...) Bobblehead thread that you saw DSO. How did you like the show?
  17. How about a petition for putting out the DVD? I suppose a lp would be nice, too...
  18. Does "Sara" by Dylan count? Its the first song that popped into my head.
  19. Monday was better. Those different songs that hwllo listed were all great to hear, esp. Kamera and Seeds. Tweedy's bit with their latest release and then he pulls out the vinyl for A.M. was pretty funny, too. Not to mentioned Box Full of Letters, Casino Queen, and Passenger Side. I thought the place sounded fine (I was center about 20-30 feet back for both nights.) The keyboards seemed a bit louder last night. I liked Tweedy's take on the empty seats, too, he seemed to take it in all in stride. It should be interesting to see if they try to book two arena shows again... Lastly, I agree w
  20. Yeah it is pretty normal. The last two pages listing all his equipment and guitars are great. Thanks for the link.

Anybody know when the doors open? Thanks.
  22. Has anyone seen the Dead while the Godchaux's was still playing with them? I didn't start seeing them until 89. And unfortunately I only caught them when they came to Chicago area --- didn't even make to a Deer Creek show, which still kills me. At least I caught the last show of the '89 Alpine run (which was my first) and Brent's and Jerry's last show, but neither of their last shows were much to write home about. The first Soldier Field show was decent enough and obviously the Alpine show was great. I always had fun and enjoyed the Chicagoland shows, but I must admit I do not revisi
  23. One of my favorites from the 90's, too. However during the 90's I did not like them. I bought Bandwagonesque when it came out and wasn't a huge fan and promptly traded it for another a CD. Flash foward to 2005 or so and bought all there discs in one swoop and listened to them regularly. I guess that why I suck a these types of threads, I am always a decade behind.
