  1. Democracy Now! is running a great memorial for Zinn.
  2. That may be true, but instead of bickering what Alito did with his head and his lips during the speech we should urge Congress to do the below.
  3. I disagree with the Court's ruling, but calling Alito out on his head shake and mouthing the words "not true" is ridiculous. He doesn't agree with what the President said and that's pretty much it. By calling Alito out pretty much negates the whole premise of Obama's speech last night. It is a sideshow because some "pundit" created it.
  4. I think it was in the Scorsese's documentary where Baez was pretty critical on Dylan and his involvement with the Civil Rights Movement (as well all the other 60s causes) during the 60s, after he became popular/electric. It would be kinda cool if she does a duet with him for this show. Can't see it happening, though.
  5. Michelle Obama to host Civil Rights music night with Natalie Cole, Bob Dylan, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, John Mellencamp, Smokey Robinson, Morgan Freeman and Queen Latifah This should be interesting. I'm glad Dylan is involved. Looking forward to the rest of the lineup, too.
  6. "You lie!!!!" Perhaps JohnO heard it from this guy.
  7. Did the people of MA think the world was going to end when that socialist Romney signed the bill?
  8. Also I'm curious to know if the people of MA voted for health care (a referendum) or did it happen on the floor at the state Senate/House?
  9. Yep, that's it. I think I saw the clips on a link that you posted a while back.
  10. I think in the early 80's they shared a bill, too. I seem to remember a European show where Townshend sat in on Miracle and Not Fade Away (not sure on the songs.) I remember it being not too good, though.
  11. In 89, The Who played a day or two after the Grateful Dead at Alpine. I remember hearing people whose car was stuck in the mud say that they might just stick around for The Who.
  12. great-feuds-in-vc-history
  13. My first show. Hell of day. Rain and a bit chilly. I was 16 at the time and the only other concert I have been to was John Mellencamp concert, so when I got up to Alpine and saw all the deadheads at the end of wet three day run (and end of the tour) it was a bit of an eye opener. It was a great show.
  14. Gorman may be the Stirratt of the group. Anyone know why Gorman was not part of the band for brief stint in 05?
  15. "Who from you is Rod Stewart?" Pretty funny....
  16. This is exciting news. I wonder what other musicians Tweedy will get for the sessions???
  17. I know it not a full show but I always liked the Without A Net disc. Especially for someone who is not that familiar with the Dead. I have Dick's Pick 17, which is the show from 3.31.91. It's okay, though I must admit I don't listened to it too often. I agree with MB on The Road Trips: Vol 2, Number 1: Madison Square Garden: September 1990 is quite good.
  18. Yeah, I read the same thing about Dickey. I heard he is just taking a break, which is understandable. from Betts I haven't seen the Allman Brothers play since they played with Ratdog here in Chicago a couple of years ago. I wouldn't mind seeing them play at a smaller theater like the Beacon. My only time seeing them at at theater was at the Chicago Theater in 2001. Betts was just ousted the year before or so and during the show one of the dudes in my group kept on going on how much better it would be if Betts was playing. It kind of killed my one time theater experience.
  19. Allman Brothers won't be playing the Beacon this year. They will be playing at United Palace Theater in Washington Heights. I guess it was fitting that they had all the guests last year at the Beacon. Perhaps, they will be back at the Beacon next year. I thought the below was pretty funny. from the NY Times link:
  20. All the results are here - wilco link Anybody here on the board win?
  21. My sister bought this me for Christmas. Have gotten around to play it, yet. I agree with MB and his Trivia Pursuit idea, that would be great.
  22. Have you ever listened to Bruce Dickinson BBC Show? I have not listened to any of his shows. It looks likes he has had some great guests and I guess he is going to have a Led Zeppelin Special on Jan. 1st.
  23. Listened to the 12.13.09 Furthur show. It's good. Definitely worth the download and a listen. John Kadlecik does play and sing well. The only clunker was the Mason Children. I also thought Weir's guitar was a bit low in the mix, esp. in the beginning of the first set. I kinda wished I would have tried to get decent seats for one of the Chicago shows. Only upper balcony seats are available, now at Ticketmaster. Also, Jeff Chementi plays great throughout, especially when he play the piano.
