  1. Gorman may be the Stirratt of the group. Anyone know why Gorman was not part of the band for brief stint in 05?
  2. "Who from you is Rod Stewart?" Pretty funny....
  3. This is exciting news. I wonder what other musicians Tweedy will get for the sessions???
  4. I know it not a full show but I always liked the Without A Net disc. Especially for someone who is not that familiar with the Dead. I have Dick's Pick 17, which is the show from 3.31.91. It's okay, though I must admit I don't listened to it too often. I agree with MB on The Road Trips: Vol 2, Number 1: Madison Square Garden: September 1990 is quite good.
  5. Yeah, I read the same thing about Dickey. I heard he is just taking a break, which is understandable. from Betts I haven't seen the Allman Brothers play since they played with Ratdog here in Chicago a couple of years ago. I wouldn't mind seeing them play at a smaller theater like the Beacon. My only time seeing them at at theater was at the Chicago Theater in 2001. Betts was just ousted the year before or so and during the show one of the dudes in my group kept on going on how much better it would be if Betts was playing. It kind of killed my one time theater experience.
  6. Allman Brothers won't be playing the Beacon this year. They will be playing at United Palace Theater in Washington Heights. I guess it was fitting that they had all the guests last year at the Beacon. Perhaps, they will be back at the Beacon next year. I thought the below was pretty funny. from the NY Times link:
  7. All the results are here - wilco link Anybody here on the board win?
  8. My sister bought this me for Christmas. Have gotten around to play it, yet. I agree with MB and his Trivia Pursuit idea, that would be great.
  9. Have you ever listened to Bruce Dickinson BBC Show? I have not listened to any of his shows. It looks likes he has had some great guests and I guess he is going to have a Led Zeppelin Special on Jan. 1st.
  10. Listened to the 12.13.09 Furthur show. It's good. Definitely worth the download and a listen. John Kadlecik does play and sing well. The only clunker was the Mason Children. I also thought Weir's guitar was a bit low in the mix, esp. in the beginning of the first set. I kinda wished I would have tried to get decent seats for one of the Chicago shows. Only upper balcony seats are available, now at Ticketmaster. Also, Jeff Chementi plays great throughout, especially when he play the piano.
  11. From the interview: I guess that is why I like the album, it is heavily arranged/produced. I am a bit of sucker for Xmas music, though.
  12. Here is an interview with Dylan where he talks about his Christmas album. I listened to it a few times and I think its great. I like the backup singers and I think the production is great. It's bit funny that Dylan's producer moniker has been "Jack Frost".
  13. Here's the link for the Go Card Here I thought it was for transportation. If you plan to go to a lot of the museums and such, this pass should have you covered. Individual passes into the museums are not cheap. Here is link for the CTA passes/fares. You might want to consider public transportation, even though you will have a car. Especially if the streets are bad due to snow.
  14. I thought tonight's episode was pretty funny, I had no idea that dude was Anthony Michael Hall until I open up this thread.
  15. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phish_festivals Wiki has a decent link of all the Phish festivals.
  16. I'm kicking around the idea of seeing Furthur in Chicago. It would be great to see them play at the Auditorium Theatre. However the ticket price is $65.00, which is fine, but I don't know if I want spend that much. But it would be sweet seeing them at the Auditorium.
  17. Throw on a show and enjoy the day.
  18. It's never too cold to anything outdoors, esp. in Chicago. Plenty of places (downtown at least) to duck into, if you need to warm up a bit. Actually most hotel lobbies and public buildings do a lot of decorating for the holidays, so it would be worth you while to check them out. Plus nothing beats a brisk walk along the lake in the winter. As far as the Go card, I am not too familiar with it, but if you plan to use lots of public transportation, I am sure it will be well worth it. Enjoy.
  19. Nor do I. On the Berkley release, each of member of the quartet compliments each other rather well. I don't think anyone is over playing. Hopkins does the inro's on this set also and Garcia didn't cut him off. I am a fan of Hopkins, it was just weird (for me) hearing him do all the talking.
  20. I got the JGB and Winterland set, also. The Berkeley set almost seems like it should have been called the Nicky Hopkins Band...Hopkins sure liked to do all the talking, which is fine of course, it just seemed that Jerry was sitting in with the band, though he doesn't play like he is just sitting in. And I know Jerry never talked too much on stage after the early 70s anyway. The music is great. I also like the tone of Kahn's bass on the Berkeley's set. Some years I don't particularly like the sound of Kahn's tone... The Winterland set of course great, some clunker notes and playing, but the
  21. Phish definitely did not change the word to "black". The lyrics were much more clear in the Phish performance of Exile than the original album. I wonder if they had prompters...which of course is fine if they did.

    I'm Engaged!

Can you post the winning haiku? Thanks. That is a great prize.
  23. I think I remember reading that some musicians (bass players?) did not want their names on the credit's because they did not want their name associated with the Doors. Am I right about this? I am sure this is not the case with Dallas Taylor and this new release.
