  1. I whole heartily agree. But people are showing up for their gigs and I can't fault the band for trying to make a decent living. I agree, but I guess he must be a pretty good impersonator with some skills, thus I wouldn't call him a hack.
  2. I wouldn't go as far as calling the dude a "hack", but I do not get the whole DSO thing either. Like I wrote before, I only saw them once in the late 90's, so they were just starting out, but it was a bit boring. Obviously they have a bit of a following, so they must be doing something right. I would prefer to throw a tape on if I want to hear a particular Grateful Dead show. To each their own. I haven't listened to either of the Further shows, yet.
  3. http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/36140-wilco-involved-with-neil-finn-project-with-radioheadjohnny-marr-etc/ I have been hearing a few of the the tunes from the record on the radio, the songs I heard did sound good.
  4. I just think that troll picture should be banned, yikes. The closest Wilco/Dead resemblance I can think of was when Wilco actually took set breaks, "like the Dead"(as Jeff said), during the Residency shows, as suggested by the V.C. board. They always have be taper friendly, too. But when comes to the music --- none.
  5. Not really sure what the above means??? It looks like amazon took down the samples.
  6. At least one more is planned: I also found this a bit funny, usually directors encourage anyone to see their film: http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/09/16/behind-neil-young-trunk-show-director-demme-on-capturing-a-legend-in-new-film/
  7. Yeah, plus I think Kanye needs to stay away from the sauce. At least for a little while. Perhaps Barack can have a beer, the other two can have a Diet Coke (or which ever corporate drink they represent, via commercials.)
  8. Finally an interview that Jeff Tweedy/Wilco was not brought up. Thanks for the link.
  9. I walked past a tea party going on at Millennium Park (Downtown, Chicago) this afternoon. Around hundred people or so. No protesters, or at least I did not notice any. They had a little stage set up and I did over hear a lady who was giving a speech to the crowd: while talking about Chicago, she stated that we all were in the "belly of the devil".
  10. I am more excited about the inclusion of the B.B King and Turner sets than the five extra songs by the Stones. I will probably end up purchasing it, however I wish there was more Stone's extras.
  11. There was a Blue Murder. http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:jifqxqw5ldde
  12. Really dig the picture of Tony Iommi's guitar/fingers. I think there will be few more people on this board who will chime in.
  13. I am sure you already saw this, Louie... http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/turn_it_up/2009/09/bloodshot-records-celebrates-15-years-an-interview-with-coowners-rob-miller-and-nan-warshaw-.html I thought the below was interesting. Also, you gotta love the H.L. Mencken quote that Bloodshot has on top of their website.
  14. Suppose you need "rehab", too.
  15. The only time I saw Justin perform was in 2001 at the Riviera when he opened up for his dad. I was pretty amazed at his solo performance, especially since he was just still a teenager. Definitely need to see Justin again (and get his new album).
  16. Saw them open for Lucero a few weeks back. I never listened to them (or Lucero) before. Pretty impressive.
  17. Grateful Dead - Easy Wind Van Morrison - Cleaning Windows and of course Huey Lewis and the News - Workin' for a livin'
  18. The Exorcism of Emily Rose was pretty interesting. It freaked my wife wife, at least. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0404032/
  19. Don't be a such a Scrooge, Louie. At least it's for charity. I guess it's official, Charlie Sexton is rejoining the band. Should be a good thing. http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/08/26/bob-dylan-welcomes-guitarist-charlie-sexton-back-into-his-band/
