As Analogman mentioned earlier, there is guy posting all the 71 shows over on bt.etree (he is up to the August shows). I am looking forward to those Keith fall shows, since I have only heard a few of them.

Saw him open up for Steve Earle this past summer- great set.

Best box sets/live albums/retrospectives of the decade
calvino replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I checked the Thrill Jockey site - and it is out of stock. It wasn't all that much money (compared to other box sets). It is a great set, hopefully they will produce more. -
That's one thing I like about the "new" way. It's nice coming home from a show and not smelling like an ashtray.

Do you mean's Dylan's Modern Times? I hate putting things in lists, but if forced I would put Love and Theft before Modern Times. It's great to see Modern Times in your top five, though.

I had that problem with a lot of Stones' songs. Now it's a bit easier looking up the lyrics on the internet. I have to listen the Phish show again to find out, my guess is they "mumbled" their way through it like Jagger did.

Prefix Wilco/Tortoise Review I was just in the 10 Best Albums Resulting from Uncle Tupelo Breakup thread and clicked on the Wilco/Tortoise UIC review on the Prefixmag page. Never heard of the term before yesterday and I though I was up to date on my Tortoise reviews. I have never seen that term applied to Tortoise before. I guess I must be behind in "critic speak".

Yikes.

Thanks for the link. I thought it sounded pretty cool when I heard it on Halloween. It nice to see the video. I can't figure out what song Tweedy was playing, though...

The Exile set is pretty damn good. The back up singers and horns are great, esp. on Shine A Light. Worth the download. Z-Man's source on Etree sounds nice. I think it sounds better then the XM feed.

Dylan's band does another verse from another Waits song. Perhaps they are going through his catalog one verse at a time.

Completely agree.

Yeah, you're right. They are extending Torn and Fray a bit here, though. Page is sounding great in the mix.

I heard the first couple of the songs. It's good that they got horn players, they definitely need them for this album. This album doesn't lend itself too much for extended "jamming", though.

Thought this was a bit interesting. The above was played tonight (10.31.09) in Chicago by Bob Dylan and his band. Have heard it yet, though. Below is from another board.

I think Clapton had to cancel, an illness.Clapton Pulls Out of Rock Hall Concert

Here is it - not the best quality, though (YouTube link). Beck does wail, of course.

George Jones/Tammy Wynette had a few good ones. "We're gonna Hold on" and "The Ceremony" to name a couple.

The Black Crowes Cabin Fever DVD Trailer Looking forward to this.

I don't own Dylan, but I listen to Self Portrait; not as often as other albums, but often enough. Really enjoy: (taken of Wiki.)

XM/Sirius will be broadcasting the shows from this weekend. Haven't listened to Phish in a while, but I will probably tune in for a bit. XM/Sirius link

Same here...I think "Phone my family Tell 'em I'm lost on the sidewalk And no it's not okay" is my favorite Wilco verse. Love hearing it live.

Yeah, I have been doing the same thing. It seems like the person is seeding all the 71 shows one by one. A good thing...I am having issues downloading 4.26.71, it seems to be taking forever for some reason. The Fillmore East: April 1971 [bOX SET], that the Dead released a while back, is one of my favorites. It will be nice to have the entire run.

Someone at Best Buy must've messed up on the pricing
calvino replied to jff's topic in Someone Else's Song
The session with Paul Quinichette, Black Pearls, and Dakar stand out for me. Especially the session Quinichette, because their playing is so different, yet it sounds great together. One item that I am surprised about these Prestige recordings is the presence of Mal Waldron throughout all the sessions. I was only familiar with Waldron with his work with Steve Lacy, it's nice to hear his playing in these Prestige sessions. Waldron's lead sessions stand out for me. Legendary Prestige Quintet Sessions by Miles Davis is a great set. Chronicle: The Complete Prestige Recordings (1951-1956) was pret
