  1. According to the Taper book: "Dan Healy officially opened a legitimate tapers' section on 10.27.84 at the Berkeley Community Theatre in Berkeley, CA."
  2. I noticed this is seeding at Lossless Legs: link
  3. Definitely looking forward to the Ladies and Gentleman release. I only saw clips before. I think they are going to be showing it at theaters, too, which will be great. I guess it only makes sense that the Stones are finally releasing this and the Exile stuff, there is plenty of unreleased stuff and I think it will sell rather well. For some reason, I hope the put out another new record some day. I have no desire to see them live again, but hearing new songs is always fun.
  4. Perhaps the answer is over at the thread going on at disc discussion over Dead.net. I know Blair Jackson and David Gans chimes in every now and than. I know "technically" tapers were not allow to tape back then, so perhaps Rhino felt they didn't need to give Weinberg any credit. I am assuming that this was a Rhino decision and not the Dead's decision, though I could be wrong.
  5. Since we are discussing Dead's late night show appearances, Here is a clip from the May 7, 1981 from Tom Snyder Show. 3 acoustic songs. Great stuff, esp. the Deep Elm Blues. Wish they had bit more shots of Brent playing the piano, though.
  6. I remember reading about (in the Trib?) a while back. A new club (of any kind) in this city is always welcomed. It appears Ernest Dawkins has a weekly gig (Monday nights). 5 Bucks and at 7:30pm (an early show ) . Club Blujazz homepage
  7. Yeah, I don't think they are remixing the original album, either - just remastering.
  8. Dead Set has always been a favorite of mine of their releases. It was sort of my intro to the Dead, so perhaps some of it is for sentimental reasons. Always loved the FOTD on that release.
  9. Thanks for the info. I never saw the 89 show footage, I liked the . Esp. Weir and Garcia trading of verses. Another fine interview, too. I wonder what happen to the Moscow plans?
  10. Paul's organ on Masterpiece sounded great. I'm curious to know what songs the band played going into and out of the breaks. Thanks for the links, I don't remember seeing the footage before.
  11. Same here. Do you (or anyone) know their reasoning?
  12. Since we are discussing tape covers: Part if the archive in New York includes (which would be cool to see): "The (link) Art of the Grateful Dead." Dick's 5.8.77 tape box. Dick's 11.7/8.7 tape box. Dick's notebook page regarding 5.8.77 show.
  13. Part of the archive is in New York now through July 4th. NY Times Link It would be cool if they brought it to Chicago. Bring it to various cities, similar to Kerouac's On the Road scroll.
  14. First time reading Algren. Good stuff. Straight Man is a great read.
  15. Yeah, I was thinking how the flash would play in an Allman Brothers setting. I think he could pull it off, nicely.
  16. Now that would be something. I think Beck may be strange fit, but a good one.
  17. I didn't know that, I need to look into that. Thanks. edit:Okay, now I feel like an idiot; I see now how you can click on only the shows you want using uTorrent, pretty easy. Thanks again.
  18. I like the show by show releases. The projects seem to take for ever to down load (my connection isn't the best). Plus I like picking and choosing what shows I want to download.
  19. This show is on the radio now. First time listening to it. Garcia playing is especially great during this show. Over at bt.etree a guy as started to put up all the 73 shows. He's only up to April, looking forward to May.
  20. Well that place is bit of a train wreck---apologies to anyone who's posts over there---trying to read through the posts to find a decent review is always challenge.
  21. It has been Jay Lane and Joe Russo on drums/percussion throughout the whole Furthur run (last and this year) I believe.
  22. Always loved that picture. Keith's feet crack me up and of course Anita's legs. Thanks for the link.
  23. Greg Kot gave it a great review, to each his own. Since this is the supposed last CD, Rubin may have not had much left to work with. I don't think I would want a happy, happy, funny, funny song on a disc called Ain't No Grave. Then again I liked (for the most part) the Rubin produced releases. Full Trib. Link
