  1. Radiohead - music is a bit interesting but not a big fan of Yorke's singing.
  2. CNN TV just reported he passed away. Chicago trib link Used the watch the show when I was a kid. The red hair kid always bugged me.
  3. Here is a video interview with Ronnie and Kenny from the BBC. Ronnie kinda blames Rod's manager for always making sure Stewart is schedule to do something when the Faces plan to get together. "]Here is one from Rolling Stone.
  4. Soulard is a great neighborhood. Here is a link to the Historic Soulard facts and going on's. McGurks, in Soulard, is a great Irish Pub for food and drinks. The Zoo is nice and I think it's still free. The have a decent Art Museum, too (which I think is still free.) The Landing is a bit of disappointment these days, most of the older clubs are all closed. The Loop area is nice also for shops. Vintage Vinyl is there as well as Chuck Berry's place Blueberry Hill.
  5. To Wilco fans he was pretty well known, at least.
  6. I know his first song has been the same for years - Whiskey River. Don't know about the rest of the set, though. Saw him last summer with Dylan and Mellencamp. I thought he was good, pretty tight band, though piano was very low in the mix this particular night.
  7. Wood definitely needs the money; the rest of the band probably wouldn't mind the money, either. But I don't think Stewart can do a full (or a mini-)tour with the Faces. Stewart is one person who doesn't need the money, I think if he could pull it off, he would do it. I don't think it's a money thing. After his throat issues, Stewart hasn't done a "rock" show since 2001. (I guess he really hasn't done a "rock" show since at least 80's.)
  8. I think Moss was kidding...It does look like a rather odd line-up. I read that Slash may be involved, too, which would make it even more strange. I hope that it isn't the case, because I would like to see Wood just be the sole guitar player. Honestly I just want to see if he could pull it off. I don't much about the Sex Pistol guy, but it would have been interesting if that got John Stirratt to play bass, he could have handled Lane's vocals and bass lines rather well, I think. The whole thing seemed doomed from the beginning. Stewart definitely can't sing rock and roll anymore, so I don't
  9. I probably have to go with Like A Rolling Stone. Dylan is great for opening tracks, as Ghost wrote. Like Rocks Off but I think Brown Sugar is the better opening track. So What from Kind of Blue should be mentioned, too.
  10. She kinda already did back in 2008. She even has the DVD - I don't if she did the vocals/lyrics for the four unreleased songs in 2008 while using the backing tracks from 1993, though. From amazon page:
  11. It seems like some jazz records gets remastered/remixed/reissued every 6 months. The Murmur reissue does sound good. I will probably end up getting Fables, since I think it is my favorite REM album.
  12. I think Cracker's Euro-Trash Girl was a hidden track. That's a favorite of mine.
  13. From Dio's webpage: It's great that they thought of special rates for hotels, I never heard of a rock star (or their family) think about hotel rates.
  14. I like the slightly revised Altamont reference in that Toy's clip.
  15. Thanks for the link - nice read. Has there info regarding the funeral?
  16. I think a lot of these of pictures are in the book that is part of the Super-Deluxe package (CD,Album, DVD, postcards, and book). I thought very briefly about buying it, but I just settle on the two cd set. I will buy the Exile DVD in June, though. The reissue does good, though I have not compared it to the vinyl or the 94 Virgin release. It is nice on this latest reissue that Wyman is credited on every song, though.
  17. I was only fortune enough to see Elvin play at the 2003 Chicago Jazz Fest, I don't think he was a hundred percent and the performance was bit underwhelming, but I extremely grateful for being there.
  18. Well I not surprised the Monroe incident got so "much play" - though I understand where you are coming from. Do you know if all three of them (Thad, Elvin, and Hank) play ever play on one session. I suppose I can look it up...
  19. Yeah, I meant to bring this up in the Jazz thread - I don't have many sessions with Jones on them. I was however listening to the Kenny Dorham led session (Jazz Contrasts) off the Sonny Rollin's The Freelance Years that Sunday morning before I heard that he died - he was playing in those sessions. It is amazing the amount of talent that came from that family. A little tidbit that I read after his passing:
  20. I agree. Heaven and Hell sounds a lot more like a Sabbath album than Mob Rules does. Until last week, I never own either one, thus I haven't listened to them in a long while. I was surprised how different Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules sound. Mob Rules is good, but Heaven and Hell is definitely better.
  21. My first intro to Black Sabbath was Live Evil - It was around 84 and I was in 6th grade. That record didn't make me delve into the Sabbath albums, but albums with Dio. I bought an 8 track of Rising(Rainbow), than Long, Live Rock on record. Finally I bought Elf's Trying to Burn the Sun. Anyway he one the first members of any band that I ever looked into his or hers discography. And I never minded him singing Ozzy' songs.
  22. The Dio report was going back and forth as rumor/hoax/fact all morning. I was hoping it was remain a hoax. I just bought the Deluxe issues of Sabbath's Heaven and Hell and The Mob Rules last week and have been listening to them the last couple of days.
  23. Taking the Green Line (CTA) can give you good perspective of the South Side. At times I walk up to the 51st stop and take it downtown. I believe it runs down to 63rd Street. Up on the elevated train, you can see all the empty lots. Depressing as all hell. But you also get to see some of the new buildings that was happening before this recent economic mess.
  24. That's pretty much the heart of the Gold Coast and North end of the Magnificent Mile, meaning it's probably the safest part of the city with regards to a police presence. But as with all large cities, pay attention your immediate surroundings. It's pretty crowded through-out the whole day/night.
