Steve Earle & The Del McCoury Band - The Mountain
calvino replied to welch79's topic in Someone Else's Song
Train a Comin' is a great album. Also I Feel Alight and El Corazon. Hell pretty much everything he put out is great. The first time I heard El Corazon was at Lounge Ax waiting for Tweedy to perform a solo show. I got there early and they had the CD on. They played it twice. Christmas in Washington and Taneytown are two of my favorites of his. The biography, Hardcore Troubadour: The Life and Near Death of Steve Earle, is a great read. Del McCoury was not a fan of Earles foul language. -
who do you think needs to be remastered?
calvino replied to Synthesizer Patel's topic in Someone Else's Song
Of the recent re-issues of Dylan, I only bought the New Morning. I never own New Morning. The other three I own and are happy with them. The SACDs sound great, esp the ones that are in 5.1. -

I got that box set when it originally came out. I just purchased the remastered New Morning last weekend - the New Morning digipak fits in the box set carton (if I take one out). I paid a lot less the costs on the Amazon link. -
Here is the link to the original article that Jambands was quoting. I think Jambands was questioning the whole article. Regardless it was the Ottawa Citizen that was reporting that he was arrested in West Virginia, not Jambands. I realized this after I made an account (with jambands) to comment on article. D'oh!

George Steinbrenner in Critical Condition

That's a bummer. Definitely a great character in baseball (for the better and worse). -
There is no mention of it in the Dennis McNally book.

Over at Bt.etree someone taped/uploaded the show from July 3, 2010 - High Sierra Music Festival. Great sounding tape and I think they played a hell of a show. I don't own the Three Snakes record so I am not familiar with (Only) Halfway to Everywhere - liked it alot.

It should have been Konerko.

I posted the below links in the Jazz section a while ago. Thirteen.org has episodes of the 60s/70s Soul program. Here is the Soul! Episode List, 1968-1973.

I didn't think it was since the guy said he found it an album jacket at yard sale. You would have thought the old guy would have known about the Leed's album. I sure it's a bit rare, but didn't they give the guy $200.00.

I saw that, didn't finish watching it though. Was it authentic?

performance at Glastonbury 2010. Got the link off of expectingrain. Nice performance of Waterloo Sunset and Days - dedicated to Pete.

I'm a White Sox fan and hate the DH rule. If the White Sox are not involved in the game, I'd much rather watch a NL game for the sole reason of the pitchers hitting and the managing that is involved in it. Also I not a big fan that a pitcher can throw at someone and not have to worry about being thrown at themselves. I don't think the Player's Union will ever allow the elimination of the DH or at least they will fight it or get some concessions from the owners. I also think players who played mainly DH(like Frank Thomas) belong in the HOF.

I 2nd this. Read this for a book club a few months ago. Great, interesting read.

First ones that come to mind: Blood on the Tracks/John Welsey Harding/Love and Theft - Dylan Some Girls - Stones AGIB - Wilco

Hopefully the recovery goes well. Lesh is still going strong.

The White Sox (esp. the pitching) are finally showing something. Hopefully they keep it going when they start up with AL again.

I agree with all the above. Finally gotten around and watched this. The audio right up to the start of the songs seemed to change just as the song starts. And Chris definitely comes across as a waster. It would be interesting to ask Larry Campbell who was stranger to work with: Dylan or Robinson. That being all said, I enjoyed the DVD. Campbell really adds alot to the music. Also Rich's lead vocal song were a highlight. I did buy a ticket to their Chicago show, actually lucked out and got a great ticket. Looking forward it.

Thanks for the heads up.

Things I did not expect to see in the Country Music HoF
calvino replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
The Gambler is a great tune. Never made it to Nashville, yet. Drove over it a lot (on the Interstate) going to the Smokies but never stopped. This year, I drove by it the day the Interstate open after the flood - it looked dreadful. PopTodd, how is the clean-up coming along? -

I agree this season has been great. The new characters and the intro of the "East" side has been are interesting. The whole funeral scene with the funeral director, Tami, and Saracen was one of my favorites. And of course it was nice to have Lyla Garrity back last night.

Opening night looked good. I was surprised to see that tickets were still available the day of the show (or at least the day before when I checked). Here is a review from Mr. Miner's blog.
