2010 MLB - Playoffs and hot stove!
calvino replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
It looks like the Rangers won 4 and lost 4 against the Yankees this season and they swept them in Sept. Should be a good series. Hoping for Rangers/Giants series. But I'm guessing TV executives are not. -
I enjoy Madonna's cd Music quite a bit.
-
I was kidding, as I was about Wilco not caring about black people, but Tweedy may indeed have bald spot.

http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/43819-needing-a-little-relationship-advice/page__hl__family When I saw Runaway Jim user name, I thought of the above thread. I could be wrong though.
-
I missed it because my little over a year old kid is still enjoying his birthday gifts.
-
As long as you do not ask for anymore relationship advice. Must admit that was one my favorite threads. I hope all is well. Welcome back. Which issue would like to discuss: The recent discovery that Wilco doesn't care about black people, Jeff has a bald spot, or Exile on Main Street is The Rolling Stones' worst album because its too long.

Songs not good enough for the album they are on

It is a great show, I only heard for the first time yesterday. -
Actually everyone seems pretty calm in this thread. I watched the show and I missed the line. The whole episode was pretty good.

I was just listening to an Evanston, IL show from Nov. 4, 1991 this morning. Dylan notes: One of my favorties songs of his. Love the riff in the tune. -
Actually I thought it sounded good at the Wings Stadium (surprisingly). I checked this morning and some seats on the main floor recently opened up for the Miller show. I was holding off because only balcony seats were available, before.
-
I don't think there is any opening act on this tour. I was going to take a road trip up to Kalamazoo but it doesn't look I am going to be able to swing it. IATTBYB, have you been in the Miller Auditorium; is it a nice venue? He is playing the Riviera Theatre here in Chicago on the 30th, but I have Halloween party that night.

I read that there was some type of silent film showing before the show, instead of music. Were you able to catch any of the movie?

I find the music TBS plays during the line-up announcements to be very annoying. -
Same here, which is a good thing. The Chicago show was a good one.

David Grisman - mandolin on Grateful Dead's Friend Of The Devil and Ripple Wayne Shorter - sax on Steely Dan's Aja Sonny Rollins - sax on Stones' Waiting on a Friend.

Also, I poorly worded the above response. I didn't mean Ruth and Mantle specifically would have taken the drugs, I meant that if the drugs were around during each of their eras, some players may have taken them. -

Well when faced with the argument of "the players back in my day would never have used anything to enhance their ability", I tend to roll my eyes. Some athletes want to be the best and they go about it which ever way the choose. During the late 90's/early 00's it was not against the rules to take the crap some were taking. I am not justifying it, because really there isn't anything to justify. Now it is against the rules, so any player found taking the stuff should be punished and they are. I don't think the frame of mind of athletes have change all that much since the Ancient Greek days - t -

The sense that players always tried to get around the rules: spit balls, cutting the baseballs with rings, and amphetamines. Also some implied that if a drug like steroids were around during the Ruth/Mantle days they would have used them. Hope you found the dog. -

I heard it put in that context before and I have to agree with it. I thought part one was pretty good. Watching the part on the strike brought up a bunch of bad feelings all over again - the White Sox were in first place that year before the strike. -
I thought this was kinda of cool - from Obama's interview in Rolling Stone. Rolling Stone Link Of course, he probably just wanted to get back on his bus so he can catch Pawn Stars.
-
On the Faces' covers, I read that Ian McLagan sat in at the Austin show, which would have been cool to see. The Crowes also cover the Stones "Just Wanna See His Face" a few nights ago. It's up on bt-etree. It started off kinda rough, but I think it sounded okay.
-
Yeah and getting picked up by the cops. He must of signed off on it, I'd guess. I don't know though. I can see Dlyan watching Pawn Stars on his bus.

Best and/ or Worst Rock and Roll Movies Ever (other than IATTBYH)??

Saw Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones last week in a theater, the lighting was a bit dark, but the performance was great. Can't wait for the DVD.
