  1. I heard of that, but not putting warm water in the carafe, then dumping it.
  2. Just listened to Phish's rendition of Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus, it was great. I think I liked it better than last years Halloween show. The horns sounded better as well as the added percussion. I am not too familiar with Waiting for Columbus, the last time I think I listened to it all the through was while I was camping during the Terrapin Station shows in WI.
  3. Never heard any of the New Earth Mud stuff. Downloading the Park West show, now.
  4. My setup is a Bodum press and electric kettle and a Solis grinder. I think the electric kettle is key, boils the water in about a minute or so.
  5. The French press is not that hard, perhaps an extra step of boiling the water and pouring in the carafe. I think the coffee taste better from the press. Alton Brown writes that you should put a pinch of Kosher salt to help eliminate the bitterness of the coffee, I have never tried it (I like the bitterness), but my friend states it works very well.
  6. I meant to write Equal Exchange (instead of Fair Trade) - you can get it on-line, though I realize that it is not really useful when you need it in a pinch.
  7. Great - now I have that Spice Girls song in my head - forgot the name of it, though.
  8. Yeah, same here. I remember waitress's giving me funny looks when I ordered a cup of coffee at a restaurant when was a young kid. They never believed me when I said I wanted a cup a coffee and would turn towards my parents in a funny disbelief manner and my dad would say "give the kid a cup of coffee."
  9. I buy the whole bean Fair Trade Organic Love Buzz (a dark roast), grind it home, make it in a french press, and drink it black.
  10. They restarted it last year, I think. I got one last year and one last week. I can't remember if I signed up for it or if they are just sending them out to people who used to get them back in the day. I enjoy receiving them, (mostly because it reminds of the "olden days") but the content does seem kinda of obsolete. I haven't got it yet, but I probably will get the 69 Road Trip release.
  11. Another one: the Newport Folk Festival on Sunday July 25, 1965, where Dylan decided he wasn't going to work on Maggie's Farm no more.
  12. I guess when Keith ran into Mick at a train station.
  13. I'd say both they are both qualified. Of course, some(not necessarily VCer's)do not believe Obama falls into the Article II, Section 1 qualification.
  14. I had to look it up myself - Battlestar Galactica. I enjoyed Freaks and Geeks, though I think Wonder Years was better, perhaps because it had more time to develop.
  15. The Tonic CD is a great one. Wish Zorn/Masada would come to Chicago more often. Only caught Masada once. They played a concert at the Mandel Hall at the Univ. of Chicago a few years back. The first part of the concert was a sound check (they all got into town late), than played the concert, than afterward the whole band did a Q & A. Nice night of music.
  16. Might be a long shot, but you might want to write/call your U.S. Congressman/Senator. They(or least their staff) tend to live for this type of stuff, anyway to help out a perspective voter/constituent. Of course you may want to wait to after the midterm elections. My condolences.
  17. I think the mono set sounds great. Haven't listened to Highway 61, yet. JWH and Freewheelin sounds great and the liner notes are very good. I guess there two slightly different sets being sold: some have replica sleeves for the first two titles and the Times cover is different. I got my from Borders, all the sleeve are white and the cover of Times is textured. To me it doesn't make a difference. Haven't received the Bootleg Series, yet. Should get it today or tomorrow.
  18. Happy B-Day - Perfect timing for Dylan's Witmark Demos and Mono releases.
  19. The Sainte-Chapelle is very interesting. It was built during the Gothic period and it is located on the same island on the Seine River that Notre Dame is on. The line was a bit long but not bad and very worth our time. Wiki Page Google Map Page
  20. I wasn't particularly fond of It's That Simple until I saw them perform it during the Residency, but always enjoyed it more than I Thought I Held You.
  21. Just walk around with your copy of Self Portrait, I'm sure he will find you.
