2010 MLB - Playoffs and hot stove!
calvino replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I like Harrelson, too. Sure there may be some silent innings, because he is pouting about something ...but I'm usually pouting, too. I like his old school expressions. I prefer listening to Farmer/Jackson (the radio side), though. Farmer and Rooney were the best. Was it GQ (or some other magazine) that called Harrelson the worst? -
I remember seeing Tarantula in a book store a while ago, I read some it while I was in the store and decided not to even to buy it. My library has two copies of it - even college students don't find it worth while to steal (yet alone check-out).

who do you think needs to be remastered?

That would be good. -
Are you going to the tomorrow's concert, Sir Stewart?

That was a hell of Illinois/Michigan game (albeit the defensive play of both teams was pretty much non-existent). I was hoping IL would pull it off. The Big Ten has had some great games this year.

Yeah, I hope he keeps putting out new music. I wasn't a huge fan of Together Through Life, but I think the songs off the record hold up in his live show. I'd even say he should put out another Christmas album.

How long do you prime your beans? Do you use a little the same boiled water that you will eventually pour in to make your cup? Thanks.

It was fun watching him run out of the dug out to argue...That's a nice shot ABC (see U2'z link) has of him smoking his pipe. -
No, no it didn't.

I got the year right (81) on the Althea, but way off month wise. I picked the Dec. Greek show. I had to go to Deadlists to search for the shows that they played Althea - would be this be considered cheating? The Athena played was from Hartford (3/14/81)

The Grateful Dead home site seem to be having some fun with a guessing game - I don't think I would be very good at it. 30 Days of Dead link

I heard of that, but not putting warm water in the carafe, then dumping it.
-
I never did that step before.

Just listened to Phish's rendition of Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus, it was great. I think I liked it better than last years Halloween show. The horns sounded better as well as the added percussion. I am not too familiar with Waiting for Columbus, the last time I think I listened to it all the through was while I was camping during the Terrapin Station shows in WI.

Never heard any of the New Earth Mud stuff. Downloading the Park West show, now.

My setup is a Bodum press and electric kettle and a Solis grinder. I think the electric kettle is key, boils the water in about a minute or so.
-
The French press is not that hard, perhaps an extra step of boiling the water and pouring in the carafe. I think the coffee taste better from the press. Alton Brown writes that you should put a pinch of Kosher salt to help eliminate the bitterness of the coffee, I have never tried it (I like the bitterness), but my friend states it works very well.
-
I meant to write Equal Exchange (instead of Fair Trade) - you can get it on-line, though I realize that it is not really useful when you need it in a pinch.

Great - now I have that Spice Girls song in my head - forgot the name of it, though.

Yeah, same here. I remember waitress's giving me funny looks when I ordered a cup of coffee at a restaurant when was a young kid. They never believed me when I said I wanted a cup a coffee and would turn towards my parents in a funny disbelief manner and my dad would say "give the kid a cup of coffee."

I buy the whole bean Fair Trade Organic Love Buzz (a dark roast), grind it home, make it in a french press, and drink it black.
-
They restarted it last year, I think. I got one last year and one last week. I can't remember if I signed up for it or if they are just sending them out to people who used to get them back in the day. I enjoy receiving them, (mostly because it reminds of the "olden days") but the content does seem kinda of obsolete. I haven't got it yet, but I probably will get the 69 Road Trip release.

Great Moments in Rock and Roll History

Another one: the Newport Folk Festival on Sunday July 25, 1965, where Dylan decided he wasn't going to work on Maggie's Farm no more. -
