  1. He did the same thing in St. Louis. I caught Tweedy down there on Sunday, I should have planned better and caught the Crowes on Friday. Another nice recording.
  2. I saw them open up for the Stones in Chicago in 1999. At the time, I thought the Goo Goo's were a bit drunk or something - they were not very good. I have seen the Stones play better than they did that night, though. I remember seeing the Goo Goo's play on Letterman and at the end of the song they jumped into a kiddie pool filled with something - that's was pretty fun.
  3. The set list order was: 1. Sunken Treasure 2. Remember The Mountainbed 3. One Wing 4. Muzzle Of Bees 5. IATTBYH 6. Lost Love 7. New Madrid 8. Airline To Heaven 9. When The Roses Bloom Again 10. The Ruling Class 11. Jesus, Etc. 12. Via Chicago 13. Spiders 14. Hummingbird 15. So Much Wine 16. Passenger Side 17. Casino Queen 18. Misunderstood 19. I'm The Man Who Loves You 20. A Shot in the Arm The crowd was great, esp. for a festival crowd. I was about 10 feet in front of the soundboard and everyone was pretty quiet throughout the whole show. One funny bit of banter that Muzzle of Dan didn
  4. Dave Hoekstra has nice write up in the Chicago Sun-Times
  5. Yeah, I was in high school during the time it aired. Like I good catholic school kid, I must have already been in bed. Damn school. Though I must admit, my musical palate was not as varied back than. Hopefully they will put it out on DVD someday.
  6. For the life of me, I don't remember this show. Which is a bummer, because the lineup's looked great. PopTodd - This was aired in the Chicagoland area?
  7. I guess Zeppelin's policy of kicking the shit out bootleggers has laxed a bit. There is a bunch on their site.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNNEPfdjPXo&feature=player_embedded Saw this posted on another board. Pretty cool stuff. Hopefully the whole show will show up, of course perhaps the whole show is already out there.* *Doesn't look like it, though.
  9. Praise You was a great video. Just saw Sabotage again a last week and realized where Sir Stewart (from this board) got his display name from. I never really liked the Weezer video. The Beastie Boy's, Weezer, and Fatboy Slim are the only videos I remember in their top ten, though I didn't have cable throughout the 90's.
  10. The Chicago show was great. Rich sang lead a lot more than I expected. I got downtown early to grab some dinner and I had Soul Singing in my head walking around the whole time - was happy when they opened with it. All four covers they did were great, too. The whole band sound very, very solid. It is fun watching Gorman play - man can he swing with the best of them. The first couple of songs in the first set he was just beating a bass drum that was set up on its side on the stage with two marching band mallets. Dickenson had plenty of awesome solos. The recording up on bt.etree is very good.
  11. Yeah, Tyler is going to be a weird fit. It is strange the Tyler is going to do it in the first place - I am assuming he doesn't need the money, perhaps to expand his fan base. All the young MTV teenyboppers and pre-teens of the early nineties are in their thirties now; their kids will be watching the show. You would think that the show would want younger/hipper judges, anyway... The whole interview was great, I haven't took the time to listened to any of his other ones, I should do so. All the Chris interviews have been pretty interesting, too. I like their "wilderness" years, though, even
  12. Steve's impersonation of Steven Tyler was great.
  13. I guess it's the lyrics that bug me.
  14. I just listened to it again on my way to renew my license. The horns could have been a little higher in the mix. I agree Horsehead is a bit of a clunker. To me it sounds like their most heavily Faces' influenced album. (and a bit Crowes (at least Chris) related - finally took Lesh's advice and became an organ donor. During the video on the Crowes site, I was a bit surprised to hear that only Chris really enjoys the Grateful Dead. I know a lot of the fans were upset when Lesh sat in with the band on one of there Filmore shows.
  15. I always liked By Your Side, though I don't own the Tall/Band session Cd (I always borrow it) so I haven't listened to it as often as By Your Side. I will be heading to the Chicago show. Looking forward to it. The Black Crowes has been a band I say I am going to see when the pass through town, but never do. Haven't seen them since 94.
  16. A couple of clips are up on Youtube of their latest performance. I think it sounds okay.
  17. That sounds like a Sat. Night Live bit. I guess the three core members are most comfortable playing the 80% thus they all picked those songs. - Did they say which songs they were. I guess if they had liner notes we would know, though I do like the packaging.
  18. I thought it was the two brothers and Gorman.
  19. Parts of the Thorn in my Pride off of Croweolgy reminds me of an old J. Geils' song - of course I can't remember the name of the J. Geils' song.
  20. Really liking the new one, too. Chris' vocals are great and the whole CD is mixed great. Both discs are great, but I think the 2nd one is slightly better. She has always been one of favorite Parsons' songs and Morning Songs and Downtown Money Waster are both particularly good. Now I am really, really looking forward to the Chicago show. My brother reminded me a few days ago that we saw the Crowes when they opened up for Aerosmith in 1990, which I completely forgot about. Also the Tall Tales interviews that are on their site with Chris a good; they are a lot different from his interviews th

    Loufest?

I will be heading down there with my wife and kid. Looking forward to Escovedo, too. Here is the link to LouFest.
  22. It is a great version. The clip states Crossroads and Don' Think Twice are up on YouTube, also. From Bob's Links - Summer 1999 Tour Guide
  23. Bummer that Potato Creek didn't work out. Glad you found a hotel in town.
