  1. Thanks for the heads-up.
  2. Just finished the below - first time reading any of Thomas Bernhard's stuff, definitely an interesting style of writing. Funny, too. Definitely will read more of his stuff. No onto the below - our letter writing/phone-calling group decided to set up a book club, too.
  3. I think a toad could get Chris to talk about Rich.
  4. I enjoy the hell out of CRB and Chris's songwriting - but the below is a bit of a hyperbole. Betty and CRB are a great fit.
  5. I agree - I'll give KevinG that the press may not be able to talk about more than one story at the time, but I know my group is still active in the healthcare debate.
  6. Mine, too - but I still call and write them. It's important to voice your opinion, even it is the same as theirs. Half the time I write them thanking them and encourage them to keep up the good work. Durbin or someone on his staff even sent me a card thanking me for writing last month.
  7. Congress has to step up. Meaning we, the people, need to step up...
  8. That it a great clip - I had to chuckle on the description in the clip, though - I think he took maybe took two steps --- at time's Garcia's slight movement of his arm or slight vocal tonation could whip a crowd up more than a 100 Pete windmills.
  9. I agree about the show reviews - it came off like I was reading reviews from archive.org.
  10. Forgot about the hammer and nail break during the Boston show.
  11. Right you are - typo on my part. Pretty heady essay in the latest 77 release. 5/5/77 sounded great - it's been a while since I listen to the tapes. Now onto 5/7 - my favorite of this set.
  12. According to the below link it was Garcia from 3/2/70 http://deadessays.blogspot.com/2010/04/march-1970.html
  13. Hiding is definitely the worst tune in the set - not sure why they chose to lead off the set with it or even have it on the cd at all. I enjoyed the release upon one listen.
  14. I listened to the Circles record and part of a concert - it really didn't hold my interest. Maybe different if I was actually at the show. Speaking of Casal - I am now playing Willie Nelson's Songbird - he is backed by the Cardinals - nice listen.
  15. Thx. for the review, Shug - does sound like was great show. Hoping Jay gets a wild hair and does another Chicago gig over the summer. Still bummed that I missed the last one...
  16. I saw that on the GD page - wish I could make it up there for it. If you are working or hanging there tonight - I'd be curious to know how the turn out was. thx.
  17. Half way through disc 2 - they're cooking.
  18. My copy of Betty Blends Vol. 3 came a day early. Of course this release has the same old stellar packaging with detailed liner notes Anybody know what shows the tunes are from. Chris is sounding a bit rough on the opening track - I Ain't Hiding.
  19. Yeah, I really enjoyed 12/7/71 last night. Nice brisk show - definitely some flubs but it's seems like they were having a blast on stage - at least that's is the way it came across through speakers. Keith did seemed to be buried in the mix, though. Hopefully, I will get to 12/6 tonight. I should be getting the May set tomorrow, too --- also, I should be getting Betty's Chris Robinson Brotherhood cd tomorrow. Lots of new music to listen to this month.
  20. Been listening to Music to Eat via Spotify for the first time today - interesting. Love the bass riff on Hey Old Lady and Bert's Song. Reminds of a Blues Brothers type tune for some reason. Actually the bass is nice throughout.
  21. 'He gone.' I can't break bad on Hawk - I do enjoy his indignation. Won't be too sad when he finally retires, but I can tolerate him. No Picks in the mailbox today, at least the Sox are up 4-0 in the sixth.
  22. Watching baseball with the TV volume down and music playing on stereo is my norm and one of my favorite activities. White Sox are on regular TV today, too - my plan tonight is to get the kid's in bed by 8pm and listen to the Pick while watching the Sox regroup against the Royals.
  23. That dome is so big, I was wondering how it looked for the show and found some pics. Definitely had a decent crowd. I am guessing those who had seats in the actual stands, wandered down to the floor. http://jranderson.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Grateful-Dead-1984-10-20-Carrier-Dome-Syracuse-University-NY/G00005Q8GIDt6NMk/I0000L0.JqwgWOGE
  24. Mine should be in my mail box when I get home. Looking forward to it.
  25. Wow Doc with ABB - thanks for that!
