"You don't know me, but I know you." Jeff, have an excellent birthday, enjoy it and take a break from recording the next Wilco album which is going to knock all of us on our respective asses. --Mike

I am pretty pumped for this one. Looks excellent. --Mike

Was that the Rockaplast show from 2004 by any chance? The sound is a little off on that one, I assume Wilco didn't get a soundcheck or the sound crew was just doing a really shitty job. It's still a pretty entertaining video, but the sound is a little rough. I am a fan of pretty much everything Nels brings to the table, but I do prefer War on War with the double acoustic guitar sound from YHF or the 2001 shows with Jay and Glenn. --Mike

And some of us will be driving back to Wheeling for class in the morning. --Mike

The Mountaineers are ranked number 5 in the AP poll, yet pretty much every college football article I've read expects them to choke. The biggest game of the year is at Louisville, who WVU ralled from 17 down to beat in triple overtime last year (and I was there!), though Maryland, Pitt and Mississippi State might give them some trouble. I think they're a year away from being a serious national title contender, but the schedule is pretty easy this year and anything under 10 wins would be a disapointment. --Mike

If I can count the demos too, From a Basement On Top of The Hill. --Mike

Could someone point me to some live Jon Brion recordings?

"I was wondering if you'd say a prayer for a friend of mine...His name is Jon Brion, sometimes when he is onstage what happens is a lull, you know what a lull is?" That's one of my favs as well. The Tonic shows are what pneyu got me started on, and I highly recommend those. There's a set of his at the Bumbershoot music festival on Dime at the moment, but some of the banter is edited out. --Mike -
Egan's ass first fall off the stage and into the snow is possibly the greatest rock television moment of the nineties and right up there with Nels' solo on Ashes from the 2005 Austin City Limits as the greatest Wilco tv moment. Some other notes.. Glad to see that Jay Bennett is getting some love, I'd say he's underrated for the mere fact he's considered subhuman by some Wilco fans. John Stirrat is doing really well too, his bass playing on Foxtrot and A Ghost is Born is fantastic, and his harmony vocals are great too. Someone give Max Johnson some love too, I wish I could vote for all of th

I'd say Glenn and Nels are considered "essential" by most Wilco fans so I think they are apporiately rated, which is why I went with Leroy. --Mike

Looks like Leroy is starting to pull ahead, he was my vote. --Mike

What's the Ballroom like, is that where they tape Mountain Stages when they do them in Morgantown? --Mike
-
Well it looks like I might have to pull a double header, the Latrobe date on Friday is within driving distance as well and I don't think I can pass up Wilco in Morgantown. --Mike

Or you can have one that jumps from Miles Davis to The Carter Family to Bennett/Burch to The Move and then to the Patridge Family . Yeah okay I am appericative of the musical genius of David Cassidy. --Mike

Then we could argue if it was better with Jay or Nels. --Mike

Wilco actually never did a cover of it, that we know of, they played the movie version as their intro music for most of the late 2001 and 2002 shows. --Mike

"Did he just say making fuck?" --Mike

There's no reason they can't record for a couple of weeks and then go tour for a couple of weeks and then go back to recording, which seems to be what they are doing now. If the album is going to come out until 07 anyway why not work a couple of dates in the fall? --Mike
-
I think I might be able to go to the Latrobe, PA date. I hope the Gym has good acoustics. --Mike

This would work as well, I actually bought them all in reverse chornological order for the most part. You really can't go wrong with any realease by these guys. Don't forget to check out the Nuclear War EP either. --Mike

It will no doubt provide him with some good banter material for the next run of solo shows. --Mike

As if I needed another Elephant 6 band to get into. --Mike

Did a full version finally leak or do you have a promo copy? --Mike

In 2004 I decided at Bonnaroo to check these guys out, despite never actually hearing a song of theirs. I figured after being blown away by Wilco, and realzing that Pat Sansone was defiantly not Leroy Bach and I that I needed to check pitchfork more often, I'd give them a chance. Well they completely blew me away and I left Bonnaroo with three of their CD's. Summer Sun, I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One, and And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out. I would say the best album to start out with is I Can Hear The Heart.. it's an incredibly electic record and has basically everything the ba

Excellent, excellent post. --Mike
