For the most part I enjoy the newer songs and I am actually looking forward to how this new album shapes up. Where as A Ghost is Born sounds to me like a crisis record (which has as much to do with the fact that my life being in crisis mode when it came out then the actual songs), the new stuff could shape into something pretty interesting an after the storm type of record, better living through rock and roll and the unironic use of the word bag. While I will admit I am a bit more excited by the melodies at the moment then the lyrics I am not too worried. There are quite a few A Ghost is Born

This coming from the man who was accused of sexual harrassment not to long ago, of course it's always the victim's fault. While she might not have excercised good judgement even implying that she somehow deserved to be raped and murdered is pretty dickish, yet typical O'Reilly. --Mike

Regardless of whether or not this actually was Thax, I do enjoy his poems on the bootlegs I have with him introducing Wilco or Jeff or the Minus 5 and would love to see him read for them again. --Mike

What a show, the camera work was a little out of control on the end of I am trying to break your heart and Handshake Drugs, but everything sounded great and I was thrilled to see all the new songs played live. I hope the horns make the album version of Walken. --Mike

2003 might be my favorite year for Wilco and realted concerts, I think there are five essential shows from January alone from this year. This one has always been one of my favorites, though the non webcast version does have some iffy moments. --Mike

This was the very first CD I purchased. Damn fine album, Fool on the Hill is probably my favorite cut from the soundtrack side and everything on side two is killer. I have never consumed enough (or any) psychadelics to even begin to wrap my head around the film, but the I am the Walrus sequence is pretty cool. --Mike

Though almost all of the hardcore fans have the DVD's anything that increases this show's exposure is fine by me. --Mike

I totally agree with you there Scott. At times it can be overkill, but when Jay was on, like in I'm the Man Who Loves You from the 7-4-2001 show it's incredible. --Mike

I am huge fan of this record, one of my favorites. There She Goes is pure pop perfection as is Timeless Melody. Son of a Gun is great as well. Excellent group. --Mike

Yeah in almost all of the 1999/2000 shows whichever instrument Jay is playing sounds about two times louder then everyone else's. Who was running the live sound for Wilco during this era? --Mike

In total agreement. It's passed Fambly Cat for me and though I am looking forward to the new Dylan, Yo La Tengo and Beck discs, I don't think anything short of Lennon and Harrision rising from the dead and the Beatles reuniting is going to knock this from my top spot. Sorry Rich Midlake is now playing for me as well. --Mike

Not take anything away from Jay, an odd way to begin a post here but I am doing it nonetheless, but Leroy Bach also was incredibly instrumental in that keyboard sound and in my humble opinion is the best guy Wilco has ever had manning the keyboards. In the late 2001 and early 2002 shows he essentially was playing his and Jay's old parts and every song. I know you're not the biggest fan of the keys but Leroy's playing on She's A Jar, How To Fight Loneliness, When The Roses Bloom Again and countless other tunes is fantastic. I love Nels and Pat but if Jeff ever decides Wilco needs to expand into

Something about American band trying really hard to sound British and writing songs about 1891 does something for me. I am sure when I get out of the I need to hear this album every waking hour of every day phase, I might be able to look at it with a little objectivity. For now it's now playing, still playing and probably countiunally playing for quite some time. --Mike

I don't think either where discarded, what Wilco has done in the past with new songs is played them for a run of shows and then rotated them in and out of the setlist until the album was completed. Walken, At Least That's What You Said, some of the earlier stuff are exceptions to this rule, but I don't think they've been retired. Whether or not they end up on the album is anyone's guess at this point. --Mike

I love that poem in Adult Head and was pretty excited to hear Wanted's lyrics were based on it. Wanted probably my favorite cut on Born Again in The USA. --Mike

I think this is a great idea. I discovered the world of Wilco boots through the MP3's on the Grotto and I think setting something similar up here would be great for people who are just getting started out and don't know the ins and outs of torrenting or trading. And there's no reason why FLAC files couldn't be YSIed for the hardcore audiofiles as well. Count me in. --Mike

I'd speculate with the exception of the run of festival shows they did in Europe in 2004, Spiders has been played at every show on the Ghost tour except the first Otto's show in 2004. --Mike
