I went ahead and merged the WTF... Eagles? thread here. My new question is WTF? Steelers. I am well aware of the team's off-season issues, and that Holmes is probably going to get a four-game suspension, but trading him for a fifth-round draft pick? Are they going to just blow the entire thing up and ship Pac-Ben (as Jason Whitlock calls him) out of town to? Tebow to a 45-year-old Hines Ward, ladies and gentlemen your 2010 Pittsburgh Steelers. Oy! Time to start watching soccer. --Mike P.S.: This is in no way a defense of the off-season actions of Holmes and Pac-Ben, I just think if they a

From your mouth to God's ears, mate. I am not sure it'll ever happen. Blankenship has villain in a bad weekend TBS action movie power here, he basically ran a guy out of a state Supreme Court of Appeals position, one of his mines has a massive coal silo filled with run off sludge from mountain top removal that sits three hundred feet above an elementary school, if that thing ever overflows... He's the face of Mountain Removal, and he sues almost anyone that says anything negative about publicly. If he ever reads VC, you, me, and GON might need to find some representation. --Mike

That was her first public appearance after ripping the picture of the Pope on Saturday Night Live, I believe. --Mike -
The Indians are only a game out of first in the AL Central.... Sorry, this will be the only time this year I can post that.

Yeah, the Ewing comparison is spot on. Though Donovan used to haunt WVU in his Syracuse days, I grew to like him as an NFL player, and always pulled for him. I do think it was probably time for the Reid/McNabb combo to be split up, though I'd be more inclined to fire the coach, whose clock management and play calling blows the Eagles at least two games a year than Donovan. Still trading him within the division is pretty ballsy, the Redskins are still probably a year away, but I think they could be a pretty good team in 2011, if their offensive line comes together and they get a running back un

Thank you for starting this thread, it's just horrific, really.

The best way to do it is to probably wait until the stream is archived on WilcoWorld and then grab it that way. The archived streams run much more smoothly than the live ones do. Although of course that means you have to sift through weeks of impatient posters asking where the websteam BTs are. --Mike

I have been very fortunate that everytime I've seen Wilco I've been so into the performance that I haven't really been bothered by any of the people around me. I have been in pretty good crowds though. There have been times on bootlegs where I've felt like Tweedy may have gone a bit overboard on stage chastising the audience, but it's impossible for me to gage what it was actually like in the crowd that night and most of those instances happened during the late nineties Being There/Summerteeth shows. Usually I find his "crankiness" (I'd use preciousness instead perhaps), pretty endearing. -

Sure is.

Their last album only sold 99,000 copies in its first week, opened up at a career best number four... Wilco The Album beats Off The Wall Reminds me of an old Weird Al interview: "''My seventh album went gold instead of platinum. I had to get the medium-sized Jacuzzi!''

Where's your source on this?

Is it like the Teenage Wasteland v. Baba O'Riley debate? For what it's worth I call it Not For The Season all the time, because I love that phrase. It's occasionally my favorite Wilco song. --Mike

Interesting news. I guess record labels are almost completely irrelevant now, particularly with a band the size of Wilco's profile, but I thought Wilco was a great fit with Nonesuch. A label that specializes in album releases, that has Warner distribution, and can get their records to people. Didn't Wilco The Album open at like number four in the charts? All of their Nonesuch albums opened in the top twenty, it's not like they were toiling away on Drag City or something. I am not sure how much more mainstream they can get unless they want Taylor Hicks on their next album.

You're killing in this thread, great work. Isodorah posted exactly what I was going to bring up. I made the mistake of letting our new puppy sleep in my bed in the morning in the summer (since I work nights, I usually sleep in, and wanted him with me instead of noising through the house trying to find and eat various things that could potentially cause him to asphyxiate.) Since then he's pretty much staked out the bed as his territory. We've had mixed success getting him to sleep elsewhere since. He at least does a pretty good of sleeping through the night most of the time, and he hasn't woken

Well played. -
I don't know if I'd use "terrible" to describe it. All the songs are pretty good, the arrangements aren't all excellent, but I think a lot of the songs sound a lot better on KT than they do on Ashes. The quieter stuff-- Wishful, One By One, Muzzle are all still really solid in my opinion. --Mike
