And I suppose I would say these days its easier to get a break. Not only are there more venues to showcase music, but you don't have to fit into one particular style. No one is going to break as big as the Beatles did, but smaller success is still success. I am not interested in living the rock and roll dream. There will never be women throwing panties at me, and I'm not going to sell out Madison Square Gardens and retire as a millionaire. But who cares? If all I want to do is play music and have a few people hear it and possibly enjoy it, then youtube is the perfect venue for me.

So basically, it should be harder for bands to get famous and they should have less outlets to display their stuff, so that only the very best ones that have put in years of hard work can "make it"? I sort of understand the logic, and I'm sure if the Beatles had been signed before their stint in Germany, they wouldn't have been as good as they ended up being. However, I think Youtube, myspace, etc. are excellent for musicians. As stated before, by allowing EVERYONE a forum to post their stuff, you obviously get a low signal-to-noise ratio, but at least everyone can have their voice heard.

I for one am very happy that people with no technical or music writing skills have access to the tools to make music anyway.

Singing along is for losers. I sing all the lyrics 5 seconds early so everyone knows I really know the lyrics and am not just following along.

Ben has been my favorite character for many seasons now, and I think since by killing Jacob he's unleased a shitstorm on the island, he's going to make amends somehow by dying heroicly towards the end of the last season. But secretly I hope he implanted everyone on the island with little things that explode their hearts and he just kills everyone and walks off.

For some reason I thought this came out a long time ago. I loved the book.

If you think that is bad, you should have seen me when I found out Charlie Kaufman doesn't have a twin brother!

The DVD comes out pretty soon, and they're all up on Hulu I'm pretty sure. The first 5 episodes were pretty mediocre in my opinion, but the end of the season was worth the slow start. You could definitely get by without seeing earlier episodes, as many of the first ones were stand alone episodes with only minor story arc things going on. I would watch them in order but its not absolutely necessarily until the last 4 episodes or so.

Turns out I was wrong - they didn't cancel the show despite the terrible ratings and iffy start. Dollhouse Season 2 is on the way. woohoo!

Happy Birthday, Crow Daddy! Don't let the Wilco nitpickers get you down.

I think Jack and Jacob only had hand to candy bar to hand contact. I don't think they actually touched each other.

"I've Got a Feeling" is genius with or without Phil's production.

Not with our restraint, but with music reviewers' and album pressing companies' restraint.

You should only feel insulted if you are Jay Bennett. I like Sonny Feeling. Sorry about the hip thing.

Pigeons definitely side with the seeds when given the chance.

Ex-Shins Drummer to Open Taco Cart The way James Mercer explains the lineup shift it sounds like Jeff replacing Ken Coomer with Glenn.

Vibes, Vibes, Vibes!!!

I read an interview with Steve Albini a couple years ago where he talks a lot about this - How good/bad engineering and/or production really can't make a bad song good or a good song bad. The music has to be there first.

This guy is good people, trust me. Happy Birthday, Norbs!!!

I will concede that a riff from My Sweet Lord is in there, just as a riff from Birthday was in Hate in Here, just like the Sesame Street riff was used on Outtasite Outtamind.

This is a Wilco board. There are going to be a busload of fans that adore this album. There will also be a smaller busload of people who don't like the album, but thats fine because it's all just opinions. It's cool. Enjoy the short bus.
