I love this song, one of my favorite Wilco tunes. A friend of mine tried to belittle it by saying it sounds too much like the Cure, but who cares.

The backing vocals are gorgeous, you can really hear the layers in headphones. And to me it also seems like Jeff's vocals have been done more "fully" or expansively, with a bit more echo, rather than the usual intimate, he's-singing-directly-into-your-ear style used on previous records. It's nice. Also love the way he sings "Born Alone" dropping down low on "flattered by fate" etc

Well there goes my theory about you being Mikael's alter ego. Of course I forgot Jorgensen is a Danish name.

There's a swirling guitar effect and picking technique that is very reminiscent of Dark Side of the Moon, which, let us not forget, was recorded at Abbey Road

Hear, hear! I noticed it from my first listen when The Whole Love was streamed on Wilcoworld. The bass playing on this album is absolutely astounding.

I love this album. I think the title is especially appropriate because on every track you can really feel and hear the love the band has for music and, yes, for its fans. Thank you, Wilco.

I haven't heard the vinyl version yet. It will take a while to reach me in Belgium I guess. But I can say that I like the fadeout at the end of the CD version because it gives the impression that this song will go on forever -- something I would be happy for it to do. I'm also bummed that the song order is different on the vinyl, with an extra song. I like the order of Whole Love and One Sunday Morning. It feels like the perfect ending. Well clearly this is a misheard lyric, as Mr. Jeff Tweedy would never the bad combination of Mr. Benny Andersson and Mr. Bjorn Ulvaeus' names in this unfortunate style make!

I agree. The song reminds me of John Dos Passos' USA trilogy, which is an awesome work of literature and a vivid snapshot of American life in the early 20th century. Tweedy's lyrics work the same kind of magic for me. And the music, while borderline twee, is actually really good. I think the song is like a Randy Newman song without the self-reverential and annoying aspects. Plus I dig the way the guitar solo sounds like a clarinet

Wow, this article manages to make all kinds of errors, not just the name of the movie. The caption on the photo is wrong. And I accuse the writer of altering all of Jeff's quotes subtly to use Brit-Irish usage, terminology, etc. like "full stop" instead of "period" and "to hand" instead of "at hand." Would Jeff really talk that way? I doubt it. The writer is obviously a miserable cut! (I think he also left a letter out of that term, too.)

It is an incredible album. As somebody else on this forum has previously pointed out, it is an album that begins with "Maybe" and ends with "Yeah"
