Chez got it here: I think we should all be leary. We're dealing with mad men here, but they could be working towards something that would make everyone safer.

I hate Trump. I love where this is going so far with North Korea.

I've often argued that this song best showcases the strengths and abilities of their current longstanding lineup. It's got all of the dynamics, arrangement brilliance and nuanced playing to show what the 6 of them can do together. Maybe not my favorite song, but one of the best presentations of the art of Wilconess.

Oh man. I loved that guy. So sad.

I'm a little miffed that the super nice, double vinyl, gatefold I invested $35 in couldn't be bothered to include a download code. Thanks a lot Anti-! Both the duets are great. Ironically the "I-5" song with Mark Lanegan sounds more like he's just singing along to Neko Case in his car (which is totally fulfilling btw), but the Eric Bachman tune is a true duet with interlocking parts. Of course it turns out he's already recorded that one, but it was well worth revisiting to hear their two voices together.

While not a complete turn from where things were going with "The Worse Things Get...", she's definitely evolving. Gone are the baroque arrangements, and Good the Bad and the Ugly guitars, or Garth Hudson organ runs of Fox Confessor and Middle Cyclone. She clearly has no interest in anything "Americana" at this point. These songs are cutting, memorable, and with clean and efficient arrangements. More emphasis on rhythm hooks from the drums and the bass, almost dancey in a couple spots.

Those dang Dodgers hit their stride at the worst time and knocked the Rockies out of first in the NL west.

I just bumped into the trailer for a uplifting indie flick starring Nick Offerman called Hearts Beat Loud. He's a struggling record-store owner/single dad who decides to make a go of it playing indie-pop with his daughter. In the trailer suddenly there was the unmistakable visage of Jeff Tweedy in his current long-hair/cowboy hat mode. Didn't see his name in the credits so I don't think he did a ton of acting, but I know he and Nick are buddies, so that's cool. Looks like Offerman really got to show his non-Ron Swanson chops and use some more emotional vulnerability. Might be cool.

I love it. Reminds me of something Robert Pollard would unleash on a whim. Put those lyrics over grand production and it would be a disaster, but those throw-away lines over little beeps and strums sounds like you're right inside of a charming shrug. I don't think we're trying to convince each other of anything here, but I'm glad you brought it up. I'm sure a lot of people can agree starting a song with "I am not a poet, and I know it." Followed by "Sometimes I write, sometimes I don't" is not strong material.

Wow. This is not exactly what I expected, but I definitely like it. More thoughts to follow with repeat listens.

Sometimes I think about what it would be like if they recorded Sky Blue Sky and Wilco (the album) at the same time in the loft- I'm not quite as taken with the slicker sound of the Crowdies studio in NZ. It would be something like this: Either Way You Are My Face Impossible Germany Sky Blue Sky Side With the Seeds You And I One Wing Deeper Down Hate It Here Bull Black Nova Solitaire

I was listening to Barney Frank's analysis on the bill that pushes back. He actually made it sound like not as dire of a situation as you might think. I'd be out of my element to try and summarize what he said, but he said while he wouldn't vote for it and increased some risks, it is the most the GOP could muster and leaves the majority of the act in tact to do what it was intended to. Some of his statement is recapped here: https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/05/22/613390275/congress-to-undo-part-of-dodd-frank-easing-rules-for-mid-sized-smaller-banks

When I was writing music reviews for my college paper I was slipped a promo copy of Kingsbury Manx, out on Yep Roc. I listened and read the liner notes. Great mellow psychedelic folk rock, then I see it was produced by Wilco's own Mikael Jorgensen. Awesome! Then they were playing a favorite venue/bar in town. My girlfriend at the time and I showed up and saw some dudes hanging around the merch table. It was some of the guys in the band who were clearly bored and super friendly. Loved talking to me about music, their's, Wilco's, others. This was to be a great night. Then they played and it

Just heard You Never Know for the first time in a year or so. That might be my least favorite.

As David Fricke said in the doc while holding up a cd "If you don't get what's inside here..... that's just kind of too bad."

Finland in the summer sounds pretty cool. New Wilco recording in the fall also sounds pretty cool. Maybe we'll get to hear it early enough in 2019.

Last time I tried to be playfully "record store guy" smug and chide someone's negative opinion on here (circa 2013) they got really bummed out..... But disliking anything on AGIB is mathematically proven to be a false notion. But seriously 'love what you're gonna love' seemed to be expanded into 'hate what you want to hate' here, which I guess might appeal to Jeff Tweedy's cynical sensibilities.

It's been a long time, but I remember some folks on here feeling persecuted for being critical of some period in the Wilco catalog. Clearly this time has passed. It's nice that people feel comfortable having different opinions. Although most people in this thread are demonstrably wrong.

I'm getting there. That first instrumental has such a great mood and texture, then opening into Georgia singing "Painting my room to reflect my mood," over the vintage 60's vamp complete with tambourine. Pretty great.

That would wrap all the way around! I'd get a humming bird with "Remember to remember me" in Old English below it and the initials of one of my dead homies.

Changes all the time, but right now... On the sad side- Wishful Thinking On the toe-tapping- Pot Kettle Black

It's tied between: Leave Me Like You Found Me, I Thought I Held You and Can't Stand It I like that someone here loves these songs, like I love some other people's least favs.

I will. Cause they're worth it.

Hey North Korea, make deals with America. We make the best deals, I mean huge. And if they're bad we'll cancel them on you and renew sanctions. Let's build some trust!!

Which is kind of fantastic: A literally collapsing nuclear regime symbolized by a mountain.
