  1. It's definitely worth having. Nice snapshot of the band from the early days. I had no beef with the sound - of course, Page doesn't have the baby grand yet so his keys sound a little cheesy, but wtf?
  2. Yes, I do have this on VHS - I taped it from the Night Flight program back in the mid 80's. It's very good.
  3. David Crosby and Graham Nash - One Stoney Evening (1971) Miles Davis - Circle In The Round (1967)
  4. I am very thankful for many things, especially the following: Family - My parents, who always gave me enough rope to hang myself, who never judged me, and who always gave me good advice (even in the days when I didn't listen). And especially Mom - a music junkie who indulged her son with a lifetime of records. My wife, who for some inexplicable reason continues to love me, and the kids who keep me young at heart. And even these brain-dead hounds - I love 'em even though they make me batshit much of the time. Friends - Many of them I have been best buds with for well over 30 years. They've
  5. "Whatcha eating there?" "Chicklets" That dude is like the hero of the whole thing. When they show him in the front row for U.S. Blues there's just no way you can't smile at him having so much fun.
  6. My horn quit working 10 years ago. But there's no such thing as a traffic jam here, so I guess it doesn't matter.
  7. I've been waiting my whole adult life. I guess a little longer won't hurt. Bjorn - I haven't seen this mentioned here, but your hottie Rep Kirsten has been talked about as a possible replacement for HRC in the Senate. Hmmm.
  8. I've mentioned this before, but my 70 year old mother has saw them 3 times ('82, '89, '97) and is a total Who fan. It's one thing we can agree on.
  9. Yeah, that's why I went to see them in '82!
  10. Scott, if you've never seen them you really owe it to yourself to go. It might not be The Who of old, but when they strike up something from Tommy or some such the roof will blow off of the place. Trust me!
  11. I didn't live up there, but I will agree with you Leo - the '80s were absolutely dreadful in terms of popular music. That's when I became a jazz head. Thank God for jazz.
  12. I think that things like HS Drugs or Spiders would translate real well in a big setting. We shall see. Kalle, I'll look forward to your take on these shows.
  13. Someone needs to give Poca a little nudge nudge about this for my b'day.
  14. Awesome second set. Besides the stellar playing the thing I dig about that period is just the way the recordings sound - there's absolutely no clutter at all, almost no distortion from the guitars, lots of space in the soundfield etc. A lot of folks dislike Brent's "plinky" keyboard sound from this time but I love it - I think it is a perfect example of the 'wild mercury sound' that Dylan once described. Plus, his use of interstellar sounds on the Prophet synth makes "Space" an interesting listen as well.
  15. Of all the years of GD I have in the collection 1980 is easily the most under-represented. I don't know why, because those first few years of Brent is some of my favorite stuff. From what I've read they were really on a tear from post-Warfield/Radio City until the end of the year.
  16. I believe you might have forgotten about the musical stylings of one Mr. Phil Collins.
  17. Indeed. Angelina and Blind Willie McTell are two of my favorite Dylan tunes, and I'd never heard them until that boxset came out.
  18. Fair enough. I don't know what's going on in Barack's head but I will believe (at this point) that he does, in fact, have the interests of the people as a whole in mind.
  19. Yep. That's me - a political science student. I'm so gullible I fall in love with anyone who can articulate the King's English so eloquently. And speaking of Michael Moore - I would think you would have loved his appearance of Larry King, PANTHER. Especially the part where he said (I'm paraphrasing here), "What we're looking at with the decline in the financial and automotive industries is the collapse of American Capitalism as we know it...and I say 'good riddance'." Profound, huh?
