With mail-in/drop-off ballots there's no point in going to the polling place. Besides, why would someone going to the polls and writing in "Gary Coleman" or going to the polling place and refusing to pick a candidate make any sense. It's not public duty (Jury Duty is a public duty) to vote, but a right that some choose to not exercise for whatever reason. I know a few people who opted not to vote and I think none the less of them for exercising that right.

Almost that time of the year. Top 10 albums of 2016
Lammycat replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yep. The Todd Snider and The Hard Working Americans new albums both suck (imo), especially the Todd one. Like it was written in on a stoney hazed afternoon with a few local high school kids. Not impressesd with the new Phish album, either. I liked the new Rich Robinson album quite a bit, though! -
He switched to the Republican Party not too long after this revealing photo was captured.

I do remember Ross Perot hooting it up with an alien:

Choosing not to vote is a vote in itself. I'm sure there are as many informed non-voters as there are un-informed voters.

Yeah, Newmarket (Stone Church). Saw them at The Wetlands a couple times, too, in 89 or 90 and The Barrel House in Salem, VA in '90 or so.
-
I saw them at Red Rocks opening for Sheryl Crow that year (1997) as my first live Wilco experience.

We used to see Dave Matthews a bunch in VA in '91-'92 at Trax in Charlottesville. He used to a steady mid-week show for awhile....
-
I caught a good chunk of Phish in small clubs (one show in dead of winter was about 25 people) in VT and NH and VA in '87-'88. But everyone knows they don't count.

One thing I learned about Trump from 60 Minutes last night is that he still has no answers to any questions asked of him. It's all innuendo and "just wait, you'll see" -like statements. What does he stand for? I have no idea.

A little "Know You Rider" riff near end of "Foolish"....

State of Denial. HAHAHA! Yes it does. Or at least, a Saturday (even though, obviously, plenty of people work on Saturdays). The day after the Super Bowl would be perfect, if it was possible to do it in Feb.

Speaking of '90, listening to Brent's last show right now (7.23.90).I haven't heard such a good recording of it until now (gdradio.net). The "Good Times/Never Trust" has a bunch of Brent vocal reverb/echo, especially in the last verses(s). Always liked that stuff.

Speaking of '90, I listened to the2nd set of MSG 9.20.90 yesterday. After Trucking opens it, a really solid China->Rider follows. And while post-Drums features a Dark Star->Playin' Reprise (continued from the previous night's 2nd set opener)-> Dark Star, the highlight for me is the Throwing Stones. Man, that song really grew into a beauty over the years. The jamming in this one is full-blown. I used to love this tune live as it was one of those , at THAT point in the tune, that just seemed to blast off and shine bright, This one reminds me of the phenomenal one from 2nd night Wa

Where was this? Good lord.

Not with Congress dominated by Republicans and the electoral college being a favorable ally to, particularly, Republicans. Still, it's antiquated, out-dated, unnecessary, and doesn't truly represent the voice of the populace that votes.
-
I would have told her: I ain't tied down to no hometown. My wife and I are on the same page in that we're frustrated with the electoral college (she's signing petitions to help end it, which likely will do nothing), stunned that Trump "won", ticked that the popular vote doesn't seem to matter, and bracing for the next steps. However, we're also confident that civilization will get by as it always has....

Don't know if they're in this thread, but A Tribe Called Quest has a new (and last) album coming out in a couple days. Looking forward to it, as it features Jack White, Elton John, and Busta Rhymes (among others).

They fuck it all up in a few spots but the jam is solid and almost makes up for it but not quite. The LLR is fantastic and the China->Rider top-notch. The matrix mix on archives is surprisingly very good (the building has a reputation for poor sound).

No, they are World Series champs, of course, but now the stigma of the lovable losers is gone and, I'd guess, a bit of the team's personality in the process. I'm not trying to take anything away from their amazing season and post-season, just noting that, like BOS in '04, they are now relieved....

Holy cow this drives me nuts. It really bothers me not knowing when or where a vehicle around me is planning on slowing down/turning/stopping. All this as I drive while breast-feeding a baby and schmearing up a bagel.

Yes! My buddy does A&R for Warren and this kid. Pretty solid stuff. His band and he were out here not too long ago.
