  1. Just found out Freakwater is playing a small bar/club tonight.....might have to break the "it's a school night" rule.
  2. Bought this a couple months ago but haven't gotten to it yet. Still meed to send the Cutler book your way....
  3. He played at a (local?) Thai restaurant the night before (supposedly) and in the Alpine campground area the day of, clinging to hopes of a last minute invite, I suppose. And yeah, slim pickins for shows to re-visit in the Vince years, though there are a few that are worthy that come to mind....
  4. Cool. I was supposed to see him with Missing Man Formation at a bar in town, oddly enough, named partially after his tune "True Blue," (called Quixote's True Blue). I went down town for the show and the bar had been turned into a vigil/memorial with candles and shit. He'd died that morning (or perhaps the morning before, I forget), but it was news to me. I met him and got to hang with him a few times as he used to hang out for hours before his shows at the bar and drink and smoke and dance with the gals. A quiet, humble guy.
  5. The suicide attempt on the Ratdog bus didn't help, nor the frequent calls to GD management to get the band back together. Still, it was a shitty thing to do to him. He was a fragile and somewhat broken man, by then....
  6. No tix are traded or sold above face value....
  7. Sounds about right. On the drive to work yesterday they had already recorded 97-m.p.h. winds.....
  8. We hit, like, 73 degrees yesterday and the winds were insane, too. I loved it.
  9. Finders/keepers, generally, works well for random items found by children. As an adult, it's a dick move to capitalize on another's (particularly a known other's) misfortune.
  10. My advice is to join cashortrade, org (free) and keep a keen eye out....
  11. Providence '74, Winterland 2.24, 74, Winterland 11.11.73 definitely.....
  12. Just found this. Kind of a cool place to see the history of a lot of the named "jams": http://deadessays.blogspot.com/2010/01/deads-early-thematic-jams.html
  13. That's it! The "Spanish Jam" I've heard is based on a Miles Davis tune, actually.
  14. Tighten Up jam is based on the old tune Tighten Up (I forget who wrote it) and Feeling Groovy jam is based on Simon & Garfunkel's beat of the same name. Mind Left Body based on a n Airplane tune, I believe, etc.
  15. The person sounds like a dickhead, to me. No reason why the entire wallet and all its contents couldn't be returned.
  16. The '73-' '74 China->Rider ("Feelin' Groovy") jam is probably my favorite "thing" the band did....
  17. I'm sure most have seen this, but Phish at Lockn' the weekend before Dick's. Two nights. And, Ween 2 nights! It's bumming my non-Phish fan friends out but I'd be all over it if inclined to travel to VA for a Festival.... http://www.locknfestival.com/
  18. All of it?? That's a lot of stuff. Consider David Baldacci or, one of my favorites (and still a current judge in rural VA), Martin Clark. http://martinclark.com/
  19. My dad's almost 77 and I doubt we'll request an autopsy on him when his time comes.
  20. "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."
