  1. Lou Reed's New York may be the most topical album ever recorded, but it holds up because the topics are connected to timeless themes and it has a very unique sound. I think this LP will have a similar legacy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Not if you trust the New York Times recount. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I remember my mind being blown by it. I now regularly blow my 7th grade students' minds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Josh Ritter put on a fantastic opening show. One of the best I've ever seen. Isbell was fantastic as ever. His live shows keep getting better. Such good playing. Unbelievable setlist.
  5. Jason Isbell w/ Josh Ritter opening.
  6. Seeing him Sunday for the 4th time in as many years. Anyone know if Amanda is touring with him? Never seen her in his band.
  7. Southeastern is a classic. Crushes me every time. There's nothing wrong with Something More Than Free. Some fantastic songs, but it'll be hard to maintain the form he had on Southeastern.
  8. I agree. I wonder if Isbell's recent efforts have pushed them. A bit of a friendly rivalry.
  9. This will hurt more than it will help. They would've done more good endorsing Trump. The vast majority of his voters hate Hollywood elites and for them to make this just shows how stupid, insulated and egotistical they are. I mean, Donald is even more than them, but still...
  10. He's also producing the new Yawpers album. I saw something on FB that they were allowed to raid the loft for gear. This excites me greatly! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I've only listened once, but like this take. To me, the interesting thing is that while it's easier to "consume" it's no less complicated to the careful listener. There's a lot going on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. And yet the polls fluctuate. The vast majority of us won't be swayed, but those who will make the difference will be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. This Twins fan is firmly seated in the front row of the Cubs bandwagon. History like this doesn't come around very often. If Theo can lead the Red Sox and then the Cubs to World Series victories, they ought to rename the Hall of Fame after him.
  14. That's a bold claim right there. I really it, but it needs more Kim vocals.
  15. One of my brother's dearest friends died a couple of days ago. Abused alcohol, tobacco, and God knows what else most of his life. Died at 48. One of the smartest people I ever knew and is responsible indirectly and directly for much of my musical taste. Hard to know whether I'd love music enough to start following bands on BBS's without his influence. What does this have to do with Neil Young? Tonight's the Night. "A sparkle was in his eyes, but his life was in his hands" is a perfectly apt epitaph, sorry to say.
  16. Love that! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Apparently I've interacted with Jason enough that he now recognizes me. Caught me off guard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. BOB MOULD!! I haven't seen anyone more often, but it's been 18 years (minus one day) since I last saw him with a backing band.
  19. Oh shit, yeah. I would probably do the same thing in that situation.
  20. Watched the pilot when it first came out. Can't wait for the rest. She so reminds me of a neighbor lady I knew growing up in both look and demeanor.
  21. The goddamn dumbest response was some NHL coach saying he'd bench a player for doing that. What the hell is there to be patriotic about if not freedom of expression, you dumb fuck?
