Saw them at a festival a couple of years ago. Never heard of them. The owned it. Have fun!

I expected Something Wild to be a lighthearted, silly comedy. So glad I was wrong. Fucking intense! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bands that you've seen more than you ever wanted to
uncool2pillow replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
Going to get slammed for this, but Vic Chesnut. He opened for Bob Mould quite regularly. Good songwriter, not a good performer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I feel exactly the same way. I suppose one difference is that Syria is already in the chaos Iraq was after our invasion.

Based more upon your previous work than on this particular episode I would download that podcast in a minute. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think you'd appreciate the show more than me. You kick my ass with Green Day on Song Pop pretty regularly. I've got students tomorrow. Sleep's overrated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A friend texted me with an offer for a free Green Day ticket tonight. So that's happening. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The true king of rock and roll. I remember when Hail Hail Rock and Roll came out, the documentary of his 60th birthday concert organized by Keith Richards, came out. Sixty seemed so old. Now many classic rockers are in their 70s and he made it to 90!

Just read the review on AMG, so I can report it's the newest Spoon LP out today. Haven't listened yet, but they gave it a good review.

Franklin's Tower was mentioned in the post that started this discussion. It's the repetitiveness of it that I like. It has kind of a Sweet Jane vibe. In fact, I've kind of fantasized about the Dead doing Sweet Jane and/or VU doing Franklin's Tower.

Bell's is typically $9.99 or $10.99/six here in Des Moines. Ballast Point, on the other hand, $14.99-$16.99. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For a solid straightforward stout, it's hard to beat Bell's Kalamazoo. Though I'm guessing NOJ already knows that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wilco Winterlude Live Listening Party, 2-25-17
uncool2pillow replied to kidsmoke's topic in Just A Fan
The wife (not a big Wilco fan) had never heard Via Chicago live. She was a bit perplexed. -
Today the state of Iowa passed a bill officially changing its name to "The dumpster fire known as Wisconsin." They fucked public employees hard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He really is a top-notch interviewer. For a guy who's a self-admitted (recovering) asshole, he sure is a great listener and empathizer. I started listening to him a couple of years ago when there were guests I was interested in. Now I listen to every episode.
-
Pretty good interview. I've never seen him as a likable guy, though I love many of his albums. Maron tends to bring out the best in everyone on his podcast and this was no exception.
-
Ryan Adams was on Marc Maron's WTF today. The last 10 minutes or so is all about the Dead. Fans would probably appreciate it.

Chicago-area people should be on the lookout for Pseudo Sue and other offerings from Decorah, Iowa's Toppling Goliath.
