Damn! Didn't get a ticket for Tuesday. Also, end of the school year staff party. Considering trying to do both.

Sometimes we teachers feel like we've cornered the market on whining about our jobs. It's rough all over!

Mine's tomorrow. Maybe the most challenging year since my first (1993-94). After a meeting yesterday, next year may be even more so. This year, a rough crew of students. Next year, a rough set of expectations that seems to be robbing me of autonomy and any semblance of work/life balance. I've always loved my job, even through the struggles, but my patience has been tested a lot.

I saw Pete Yorn open for someone. Pretty sure it was Alejandro Escovedo. One of his LPs used to be on regular rotation for me around the turn of the century, so I was a bit excited. Bored me to tears too.

Couldn't agree more. Was laughing out loud through the whole "But there's a horse in a hospital" bit.

Many years ago I saw a Jay Farrar solo show that nearly did this for me. I saw Son Volt about a year ago and it was a much better experience.

Anyone listen to the Best Show? Last night, Tom Scharpling, the host was going on about his dislike of the Grateful Dead. He'd listened to a show one of his producers had given him (5/8/77 for you Deadheads out there). He, of course, hated it. At one point he compared it to if Wilco was playing immediately after being given novocaine shots in their hands.

This happened today.

Checked my calendar and I'm seeing Hamilton in my hometown of Des Moines that day.

That Chicago show is tempting. It's about a 20-minute walk from my friend's place.

I am willing to give the Trump administration credit for getting the American captives for N. Korea released. I wonder, though, if there was a quid pro quo we'll find out about later.

That's a fun LP. My wife has a soft spot for Olivia Newton-John.
