I grew up with moderate Republican parents. I was a bit more liberal than them but remained a registered Republican until two years ago. I probably split my vote 65 / 35 Republican v. Democrat over the years (I'm 4-2 Republican in presidential elections). Having said that, it seems like the last two years have gone against every value I was taught growing up. Sometimes we teachers feel like we've cornered the market on whining about our jobs. It's rough all over!

Mine's tomorrow. Maybe the most challenging year since my first (1993-94). After a meeting yesterday, next year may be even more so. This year, a rough crew of students. Next year, a rough set of expectations that seems to be robbing me of autonomy and any semblance of work/life balance. I've always loved my job, even through the struggles, but my patience has been tested a lot.

I saw Pete Yorn open for someone. Pretty sure it was Alejandro Escovedo. One of his LPs used to be on regular rotation for me around the turn of the century, so I was a bit excited. Bored me to tears too.
