I'm not sure I get how it's disrespectful or an excessively entitled to request a song you want to hear whether that's what the audience in general wants to hear or not. You don't think there's lots of domestic, workplace, or other conflicts where people just boil over? I don't know if there's any way to quantify, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

This is a good point, one I've been thinking about. I suppose to me that it would come down to numbers. How many lives can be saved by having a waiting period in place versus the inability to protect oneself in a situation like this? My guess is a waiting period (for cooling off I think 48 hours is sufficient, not a week or more) would save more innocent lives that it would cost.
