  1. I found when I saw them this year some of the SBS stuff wasn't projecting as well live (particularily Either Way) I just found they were too mellow for such a rockin' show. However I find it weird that What Light gets such little play. Last year the opened almost every show with it and I thought it was a shoe in for a great show closing encore-sing along moment. Oh well, I love that AM is getting so much more play now.
  2. Thanks alot guys. I never really talked about it on the internet or to strangers before but I guess it's nice to share it. Thanks again you guys are great.
  3. On the topic of overrated bands/records who else thinks Sleater-Kinney is terribly overrated? (please don't hate me now VC)
  4. I think Josh Ritter would be fantastic. The National and Ron Sexsmith would awesome as well. There's lots of bands that would be great, My Morning Jacket opening again would be crazy.
  5. http://www.blender.com/guide/articles.aspx?ID=2877 Worse than half the Rolling Stone lists?
  6. This is sort of weird because I don't think I'm old enough to have records that change my life! Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Basically showed the endless possibilites of music. The Beatles - Revolver Inspired me to play music. Wilco - Sky Blue Sky My mom passed away three days after this was put out. It was the right album for the time and I am forever indebted to Jeff for making it. Nick Drake - Pink Moon Essentially did the same thing Sky Blue Sky did. Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding If I had to pick a Dylan album that effected me the most it would be this one.
  7. I read in a Tweedy interview that he was really into The Black Swan which I thought was really cool. You can hear his influence in Tweedy's acoustic playing a bit I think.
  8. I agree with you guys. I am not BLOWN AWAY in any way, but I was really afraid that this was going to be the biggest musical failure in like recent memory. Good job dodging that Radiohead!
  9. Yeah man her voice is awesome awesome, glad they put on a good show and I agree it's a great cover.
  10. Such a great record. For anyone that doesn't know The Dap-Kings they played on quite a few tracks on Amy Winehouse's Back To Black (most noteably 'Rehab') also backing her on her 2007 tour and also playing on the Mark Ronson album. So definately check this out and if you have discuss!
  11. Well guys Mattew Good (Canadian singer/songwriter) played the University here in the Sault on Monday. And now there is huge contreversy over what occured during the concert. I did not attend but I certainly wish I did! This reminded me of Jeff quite a bit (not taken as far) but I'd like to hear your guys' thoughts on this. Here is the original review of the Matt Good show on a local news website in the Sault. http://sootoday.com/content/news/full_stor...oryNumber=27618 Here is Matt Good's blog in which he mentions the show on Monday. http://www.matthewgood.org/2007/10/a-fanta...ste-your-mo
  12. Hey good job Sara! Glad to hear that you are jamming! On another note of shameless self promotion (sorry for semi-hijacking Sara!) I will be playing my first solo show tomorrow night opening for this band http://www.myspace.com/betterfriendsthanlovers at our local record store. Oh and here's my myspace www.myspace.com/kallemattson Thanks!
  13. Such a cool way to release an album. I'm suuuuuper excited.
  14. I was just in Ann Arbor to see Ryan Adams and Ron was playing on the Tuesday and I wished I could've stayed but alas school. But it so happens that my guitar teacher at school went down and saw this show and said it was fantastic, both Ron and Nick.
  15. It might be my favourite Wilco song, I wish they'd play it more often.
  16. I managed to get some shots at the Ann Arbor show that were alright. You get a sense of the disco ball thing and how it looks like stars.
  17. I met Ryan after the Ann Arbor show as well super super nice guy! Great story.
  18. Ok! Sorry for bringing the thread back from the dead but I couldn't show off my entry until now. This is me and my brother outside of the Ontario College of Art right before we are off to see Wilco at Massey Hall in Toronto.
  19. It was a pretty great show for my first time seeing Ryan. We drove down from the Sault early that morning, shopped for a bit and just missed meeting Ryan at a guitar store. But ended up meeting him after the show. Super super nice guy. How bout the Hounds beating the Spirit eh?!?!?!?!?!
  20. Holy crap lots of VC'ers going! I'm in row S seats 105 and 106, see you there!
  21. Thanks a bunch guys it was a nice surprise to see a thread for me! It has now rained on my birthday for 17 straight years, ah to have a falll birthday. Thanks again!
  22. I've seen Sexsmith countless times, a true Canadian treasure that not enough people know about. Glad you enjoyed him!
  23. Tweedy uses the M1 through his Santa Cruz's so that's even more insentive to buy it! You know I love my 000-15. It's a lower end Martin but it plays and sounds like a $2000+ one fantastic guitar I really couldn't be happier with it.
  24. I was yet to be born for another 17 years. He's alright, no Ryan Adams thats for sure.
