  1. I have not seen the vid or heard this version (so take my words for what they are worth), but I play this tune in Open D capo'd 2 (making Open E). Perhaps JT is doing the same? He has a bunch of others in Open D therefore making a smooth transition (to Pot Kettle Black or Not for the Season or Radio Cure or ...) BTW, nice avatar. Martin HD28V? Gotta love herringbone...
  2. Gotta host them somewhere first. Like photobucket (http://photobucket.com/) or Imageshack (http://imageshack.us/)
  3. Not sure if you guys saw this, but AD has Jeff doing this cover for your downloading pleasure: http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/ Enjoy.
  4. I appreciate all the advice. I have not pulled the trigger yet. Maybe I need to break down and run the table. But here are a couple of follow up questions: 1. If I go Bon Iver, do I get For Emma instead of Blood Bank? 2. If I go Andrew Bird, is Useless Creatures a necessity? or an overindulgence?
  5. Not sure what I want to pick up next, so I'd thought I'd turn to my hipster indie music friends here on VC for suggestions and advice. I have narrowed my list to the following: 1. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit 2. Bon Iver - Blood Bank 3. Jenny Lewis - Acid Tongue 4. Neko Case - ... (undecided which LP; any suggestions?) 5. Andrew Bird - Noble Beast / Usless Creatures 6. Dan Auerbach - Keep It Hid What do you guys/gals think? Where should I start? (sometimes I think there is too much good music to keep track of)
  6. this one? http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?act...ost&id=1314 Yeah, looks like a 00-18?
  7. Just rented this one. Pretty enjoyable. One of Woody's best in recent years (IMHO).
  8. I had no idea who he was when I saw this thread/list. Had to google the dude.
  9. I like this one as well. But the version I really prefer is the "New York" Open E version.
  10. I just read Moby Dick. It was not what I expected and rather enjoyed it.
  11. Thinking of going to this one. Anyone else?
  12. I guess dollars do not translate to relevancy. Perhaps it is an inverse porportion type of ratio...
  13. Yeah, it is a staple of mine as well. Sounds so good. I just realize that Jeff fingers that intro riff a little differently then I do (based upon a vid someone posted recently of a solo show that showed his fingers real clear; love when that happens). He uses his pinky on the 5th fret making for an easy transition. I had been using ring finger (like a "C" chord up a level).
  14. I have to admit I love Desire - even I was late to the party. Didn't buy the record until I decade after I bought my first Dylan record. ... quick aside: I distinctly remember buying my first Dylan record(s) in 1990 +/-. I was at Target one day and they had his whole catalog on CD on sale for like 9 bucks. Picked up Hwy 61, Nashville Skyline & Bringing It All Back Home. Hooked ever since ... Anyway, ... I think I like it becasue of the backing vocals - a new and fresh sound for Bob. There is a live recording of me and the wife at an Open Mic dueting on Oh, Sister. Sweet. Isis is so g
  15. Great selection and prices at Scotty's Music. Playing is not so bad if you know guitar. Tuning is same as guitar's top 4 strings if capo'd at 5 (i think - doing this from memory). They are pricy, but I always wanted an all-koa, island built uke. Sweet. I'll second that book recommendation, Author is funny and honest.
  16. Rocking version of These Girls on the Curtain Of Light
  17. Been to Oahu, Maui, Kauai & Big Island. Kauai is my favorite. Great beaches in the southern poipu region. Very laid back, casual. Looks like this: Good waves in the summer / fall (you might have to go northern side for waves now). Definitely drive over to the grand canyon. very cool. Near there is a boat harbor you can book sunset cruises, snorkeling, etc. I took a boat around to the north side - spectacular. Very well worth it. See stuff like this: There is a great music store with ukes, etc. called Scotty's Music on the road to the canyon / harbor. Have fun!
  18. Sweet trailer. Wonder if it is gonna be on blu-ray?

    Laminated Cat

Also appears on Jeff's Sunken Treasure DVD/LP
  20. It is true that it does not hold up as well as the other records, but it is very solid. There are only a couple songs I don't like (Shake it Off, Leave Me) and there are couple that will go down as classics (Face & Germany - and maybe Seeds). The rest are enjoyable.

  22. Anyone tab/chord out this version of the song? I especially like the little fills and riffs. Track 12: http://owlandbear.com/downloads/19990725_t...y-bennett_shnf/ Anyone help would be appreciated. Thanks.
