  1. I almost bought this record on the strenght of the title track. But now I am not so sure... I own zero JL or Rilo records. Where should I start?? Any recommendations?
  2. Oh, I hope your kidding. Gibson can be so aggravating. The need to go back and focus on the basics; what made them popular. We don't need 12 different "J-45" models or 34 different "Les Pauls". My god. Focus, people, focus.
  3. Can I add a slightly alternate take one this one? It is loosely based upon this dudes cover: Let me know what you think. Wilco - You Are My Face / Sky Blue Sky ( arr. solo acoustic ) Intro: D* e 2-2-2--- b 3-3-3--- g 2-0h2--- d 0-0-0--- a -------- e -------- D* I remember my mother's sister's husband's brother G Working in the gold mine, full time, filling in for sunshine D* Filing in to tight lines, ordinary beehives Em The door screams i hate you, hate you G Hanging 'round my blue jeans D* Why is there no breeze? 4. Skinny Legs might be my favorite book of all-time. Here is what I just started:
  5. Ghost Busters was the single greatest movie experience of my life (albeit I was 10 years old). I have my doubts about a new one. I was dissappointed by Indy 4 and all Star Wars Manekin Skywalker Prequels (both franchises also ranked high on my early film life, obviously). ...
  6. By the way, I am still tentatively "in" for this one. I only play acoustic guitar, unfortuneatly - I don't even own an electric guitar. Here are my suggestions for the setlist: Hell is Chrome Hummingbird Red Eyed and Blue You Are My Face How to Fight Lonliness Via Chicago Ashes of American Flags Pot Kettle Black
  7. I just noticed that Jeff doesn't finger the D chord (E, really, w/capo) the same way in the tab above (the first part of the main riff) in the youtube video. Anyone know what he is doing?
  8. I was listening to the June 21, 2003 show recently and right before they go into "Red Eyed & Blue", Jeff says "This is my mid-life crisis guitar". Does anyone know what guitar he is referring to? It got me thinking what I would envision as a mid-life crisis guitar. What is the guitar equivalent of the proverbal red sports car? Something gaudy and show-y, no? Like a Flying V or somthing silly like that, no? So, to recap: 1. Does anyone know what guitar Jeff is referring to? 2. What is your idealized mid life crisis guitar?
  9. Count me in as "interested" But I warn you: I suck!
  10. Good question. TP is kinda a vague term. I tend to think of it is 4 distinct patterns: --------------- -----1--------- -----------0--- --------2------ --3------------ --------------- -------------- -----------1-- -----0-------- --------2----- --3----------- -------------- ------------------------- --1-------------1-------- ----------0-----------0-- -------2-----------2----- --3---------------------- -------------3---------- -------------------------- --1-----------1----------- -------0------------0----- ----------2------------2-- --3----------------------- -----------------3-------- My
  11. It certaininly SOUNDS better at II. But the youtube link show JT w/ capo III, no? Agreed. The Cmaj7 is a good call - nice touch. I noted to travis pick over the F, but arpeggio is fine too, I guess. Thanks for the feedback.
  12. I have really been digging this song lately. IMHO it might be the quintessential Wilco song (especially the 'Noise' KT version). A quick search did not prodcue a complete tab/chord/lyric of this tune, so I thought I'd put it all together. I have called it Capo III, but I think it sounds fine at II or IV, as well (my ears kinda prefer II, but JT seems to use III; hence that is what I'll show here). As always, corrections, comments, feedback, flames are welcome. Enjoy! Via Chicago - Wilco (Summerteeth) Standard Tuning w/ Capo III http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98w-yHiBvYc Intro: | C
  13. In a nut shell, yes. I pull the whole index off when doing this manueuer on F (or and barre chord. The Bm pulloff in the intro Neil Young's "Out On the Weekend" has a similar trick). I tend to travis pick this one (I tend to travis pick by default - but thats a personal crutch to bear). But listen to the song and find your own voice. Make it your own.

  16. I saw the Travis King Band do "Sunken Treasure"
  17. Oooohhh...forgot to add one of my favorites: "Babes in the Wood" - Steve Miller Band
  18. Have this from somewhere. The intro is not quite right - but close. My advice is to improvise around this prgoression. Intro: |-----3------3-2-2-3-3-3-------------0-----------------------| |-----0------0-0-0-0-0-3-----x---1---1---------1-------------| |-----0------0-0-0-0-0-4--4--x---0---0-----------0-----------| |-----0------0-0-0-0-0-4-----x---2---2---1/2-------2p0-------| |-----x------x-x-x-x-0-2---------3---3-------------------3---| |-3----------3-2-2-3-3---------------------------------------| [G]She's a jar [Bm]With a heavy lid [C]My pop quiz kid [G]A sleepy kisser [Bm]A pretty war
  19. Just heard my first S & H song: I Should Have Known Better (Beatles cover). Very entertaining. Love that line it walks between Hawaiian and Country (all good country has a little Hawaiian). Who'd a thunk it?
  20. This jogged a memory cell. I love Townes Van Zandt's cover of Dead Flowers.
  21. I am a fan of One Trick Pony & Graceland.
