It'd be more like if somebody took your stories, and changed the artwork on the cover. Because technically the band is producing the music, the taper is just preserving it.

I do have much respect for the tapers. Without them I honestly wouldn't be the person I am today. I lived off of Dead shows through High School, which obviously started my obsession with live music. I know that some of them ask not to trade or convert their shows to certain formats, but regardless, it is spreading the music. As I said before, I would never spread a copy of a show that I had converted, but I do occasionally convert them because of file sizes.

I know that you are correct on this, that it is SOME peoples opinions that posting in lossless quality should be a set as a standard. However, some people really don't give a shit. If its an AUD copy, or the files are massive after converted, I'd rather have MP3. As for SBD or MATRIX live shows, I do agree that FLAC or SHN sounds a little better. I am all for sendspace, mediafire and whatnot, and whatever version is sent. It's not like I'm going to listen to this show more than once. Taking the extra time to download and convert just isn't worth it. I'd just not listen if it was FLAC.

I'm listening to Howlin' Rain for the first time right now, they kinda sound like a modern day CCR to me. You might like older Modest Mouse too, pre Good News..

I think 4 or more shows is called a Residency. Shellac is doing one, Smashing Pumpkins have been doing them, the Allman Bro's have been doing them for years...

I think you're dead on with Beatles > Stones > Floyd, then Radiohead in the 90's. However, the 80's did produce some great music but it is hard to choose just one band that was "the best". The Cure, Talking Heads, Michael Jackson(not rock), The Smiths, GUNS N' ROSES, etc. all kinda have their spot in there.

The remind me of the perfect blend of MMJ and Built to Spill, and it sounds beautiful. I saw them at The Metro a few weeks ago and, man that guy has some pipes! Great show.

Not making it tonight, I've gone to the last 3 and last year there was just too much talking. The show is supposed to be somewhat of and intimate show and it has just changed a bit IMO. I know they'll bust out some Beatles covers though!
