  1. I was annoyed this morning, but I've gotten over it already. I'll try again Saturday for Philly tickets, and I'm sure I'll get something. While I'd like to be right in front of Nels, I know the show will still sound as good from farther back, and who knows, with the Ticketmaster mojo I've had the last few years, I might just get lucky and pull up a good seat in the regular sale. And if I get shut out again, it's not the end of the world. I've seen Wilco before and I have faith I'll see them again, hopefully in '08. I'll resist a corny reference to Either Way and get back to eating my lunch
  2. Okay, I'm glad it's not just me. Maybe more will come up later. Unfortunately I have to go work for a few hours. If worst comes to worst, I guess I'll just try for the regular sale on Saturday. Grrr.
  3. How are there no tickets available at 10:01 for my single ticket request for the Tower? What the hell???
  4. More dates have been popping up on Ticketmaster. The show at the Tower is one of the only ones that isn't showing a presale yet. I hope Wilcoworld gets the information up about the presales soon. I teach in the mornings, and I don't want to miss out on the presale!
  5. I hope Wilcoworld offers a webcast or two of these shows!
  6. I couldn't have said it better myself. Except maybe adding a few for good measure. That might be the most amazing five-night block of shows ever. I'm seeing them the next week--hopefully they'll still be carrying the energy from these shows, and there will be an awesome setlist.
  7. There's also a presale for most shows through Wilcoworld. They'll post the date of the presale right on the page with the tour dates, and all you have to do at that day and time is click on the link there and it will take you to the presale. The fact that they make the presales free for everyone instead of launching some stupid money-making fan club is one of the reasons I love them so much.
  8. Ticketmaster is showing the presale for Nashville as starting 12/13 at 10 a.m. CST. They're not showing any of the other dates yet.
  9. Both the PA and CT shows work for me. I'm leaning toward CT so I can take one of my friends who lives up that way. What a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting any new US dates until late spring or summer at the earliest.
  10. I just picked up a GA ticket for Rochester on March 6. This will be my first time seeing him, so I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll be able to get a good spot--I almost bought a seat, then threw it back and figured I'd try one more time for a GA.
  11. Best: Either Way opening the Northampton show. They hadn't been playing it too much, and there isn't a song that better sums up what's been going on in my life in 2007. Missed: I was really hoping for a New Year's Eve show in Chicago, since I'm going to be out there that week for work. Oh well. Also, I was going to go see Nels play with Jenny Scheinman back in August, but the Woodstock show was the same day as my grandma's 80th birthday party.
  12. Thanks for sharing this. I feel like I could read 100 interviews with Nels and never get tired of what he has to say.
  13. That's how I've felt about In Rainbows, too. I've always felt like Radiohead is one of those bands I should like, based on the other things I listen to, but I've never really been able to get in to them. I bought In Rainbows because I wanted to support the concept much more than I actually wanted the album, but I'm considering it one of my biggest pleasant surprises musically for the year. It's making me think maybe I should go back and try some of their other albums again, even though I wish Thom Yorke were just a little less whiny.
  14. Till the Sun Turns Black has quite a few great songs on it, but I think Trouble is more consistent. He's a terrific songwriter, and I like that most of his songs are so simple but so beautiful. Jolene is one of the prettiest songs I've ever heard. I also really love an unreleased song called I Won't Be Around. I've got a few poor quality live versions of it, but I'm hoping he puts it on his next album.
  15. I wonder if Mikael is on a riser? Because it seems like nobody in the universe is as tall as Nels. Anybody know how tall he is?
  16. I just moved and don't know the cable that well yet, but I found the PBS station that's airing it. It's not on until 11 on Saturday night, so I set my DVR
  17. Those first two paragraphs are probably the best description of his playing that I've ever read. Thanks for sharing.
  18. My copy of SBS got scratched recently and skips really badly during Shake It Off. At least I'll get something a little different when I buy a replacement copy.
  19. Overall a nice setlist, but an especially great encore.
  20. That's a great interview, though the audio quality is pretty awful. You do get used to it after awhile, though. Sorry I didn't post about it when I found it a month or two ago. I figured since it was from January that somebody had already gotten the word out.
  21. I've had a few different beers by Victory Brewing, and I've really enjoyed them. Hop Devil is probably my favorite beer (it's an IPA), but I also love their Storm King stoudt. It's over 9% alcohol, so a case of that lasts me a pretty long time. Victory isn't available nationwide, but it's available more widely than I thought it was. Here's their distribution map. Fall is my favorite time of year to try new beers, since the hoppier ones are more prevalent during this time of year. Unfortunately I don't think there's going to be any beer in my near future, since I'm trying to get over mono
  22. I've heard Love and Theft--some friends played it for me around the time it came out--but it didn't grab me the way Time Out of Mind did, which is why I haven't gotten it yet.
  23. Michael Franti and Spearhead are playing here this week. If I'm feeling better (I've had mono for a few weeks) I might go, but they're not a must-see. I wouldn't have been going to Vegoose either way, so I voted couldn't care less, but that's not much of a lineup.
