I'm still finishing up The Devil but I'm game on a Book Club Part Deux. I just picked up the Your Brain on Music book last week, so if I can nominate that for the candidates for Book Club II, I do.

I've got a Wilco sticker on my Ranger. I used it to cover up the Harley Davidson sticker placed there by the previous owner.

"God bless this powerpoint presentation."

I was just rewatching that scene in Luke where he does that song after his mother dies and he's tearing up. Needless to say, I was tearing up. He was such an incredible guy.

This has me bummed today. Paul has long been one of my favorite people ever. The man is flawless in my eyes...the philanthropy, the good nature, the humor, the talent, that incredible face. He was married to Joanne for 50(!) years and seeing them together in recent television programs was inspiring, they were so at ease with and in love with one another. The man really lived in a way most people don't realize is possible. So long, you dear man. The wisdom of Paul: "I am confounded at the stinginess of some institutions and some people. I'm bewildered by it. You can only put away so much s

I'm excited about it. Should be good watchin'. Maher could totally take Ben Stein in an arm wrestling match.

For the record, any time I hear of a childrens book (or flick) being protested for reasons like those mentioned in this thread, I instantly become ten times more likely to show it to my kid because I know it must be good stuff.

Hooray for naughty books!

Because he's my RSBF, Malkmus get the top spot: but so long as we're doing honorable mentions, I was pretty tempted to give Stephen's spot to this one: Black Mountain "In the Future"

Both are available on DVD. Vanishing Point is available for free stream on Netflix for anyone who uses that.

I recently watched "Vanishing Point" for the first time. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out. It's got the same vibe, no James Taylor but it does have great music running through it. Edit: (I'm talking about the original Vanishing Point, haven't seen the newer one.)

Love it. James Taylor is hot in the "strong, silent type" way. You know the car is the same used in American Graffiti? Also, Oates' character is such a douche, "Suck you out my tailpipe."

There's an awful lot of nose wiping with the hands in that film. Sniff, sniff, wipe...sniff, wipe.

I had a piece of heavenly Pumpkin Spice cheesecake on Saturday. I love this time of year, when all the flavors and scents out there are pumpkin, spice, apple cider, and the like. Warm and lovely nose and tongue tinglers! Haunted house ideas? Release some huge, real, live snakes all up in that garage!

I made something sweet...

That was it! I'm down with the "won't know until we're dead, so there's really no point in worrying about it." I'm a big fan of focusing on the life I know I've got to live today, rather than living for some mysterious life that might come after this heart stops thumping.

I hear Screamin' Jay got that name with good reason too!

Hey, something weird just happened here. Who spiked my Coke Zero? I had this page up, went away to get a hair cut and read through it when I returned. I then hit refresh to see if there were new posts and I could swear a post was missing? Did someone delete something? PANTHER or Markosis, I believe? Whoever it was, I liked what you'd said there.
