  1. I agree, and I do hope you'll let me buy you a beer! I don't need to weigh in on the whole Indiana legislation thing, but I do want to say something about Wilco. This is a band who has proven their affection, respect, and concern for their fans for 20 years. I believe any informed person would draw that conclusion, certainly any of us here for more than a few posts. I cannot imagine that this cancellation was something that they took lightly. If they (collectively, I assume) felt that the impact to their beloved fans was outweighed by impact they felt they could make by this statement,
  2. today, I got in a van at a hotel which took me to an airport. I got on a plane which took me to another airport. I waited in line to go through customs. I got on a train which took me to a station. I got on a shuttle bus which took me to a place, where I did something. I got on a subway, which took me to a different station. I got on a different train which took me to an even different station. I walked from the station to get in another very long line to go through customs. I walked from customs to yet another customs, and waited in line again. I got in a taxi which took me to another hotel.
  3. I believe the correct form of the question should be: "What's a 'Wilco'"?
  4. No, really, it's all the rage over here. I heard Kanye's doing one on his next record.
  5. This is generally way outside my wheelhouse, but I kinda like it.
  6. At the time (late 70's), it was hearing Kansas play "Carry On Wayward Son". I was a big Kansas fan in HS. Looking back, it was probably hearing the Stones open up with "Under My Thumb" in 1981. That was a pretty big deal.
  7. Octavia! A little something for us Kentucky folks to share in the festivities.
  8. Last night's "Album of the Year" award going to Beck is only the third time this century that I have actually owned the album which won. It's possibly the first time that one of my favorite artists won that award since 1968's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
  9. Since we're running out of time to play "guess the lineup", here's mine. In addition to the Wilco’s and TWEEDY and all the side projects... The top 4 that I fully expect to be there : - Richard Thompson - Jim Campilongo Trio - Cibo Matto - Lucius The top 4 realistically possible that I would really like to be there : - William Tyler - Califone - Yo La Tengo - Andrew Bird The top 4 “in my dreams” but not totally out the realm of possibility : - Joe Jackson - The New Pornographers - St. Vincent - Beck
  10. Does anyone have the TM or LiveNation presale PW for Cincy? There is a LiveNation presale for Indy Murat (PW = BEATBOX) Thursday at 10:00, but I haven't seen anything for Cincy.
  11. conversation with my wife at breakfast this morning... me: Hey honey, the Wilco's are going to be in Louisville in May, and tickets are going on sale today. Do you want to go with me? Mrs: I thought you were going to see them up at that museum thing this summer? me: Well, yeah. Mrs: So you're going to both of them? me: Umm, yeah. And there's also one in Cincy that same week in May. Mrs: I thought you said you were going to the one in Louisville? me: I'm pretty sure I'll go to both of the ones here too, plus the museum thingie. Mrs: Oh, OK. I'd rather go to the Louisville one. I like
  12. Yeah, the Louisville pre-sale was much kinder than the Cincy one. I got 3rd row on the Pat/John side (sec 3) near the middle. Will have to wait for Friday to try Cincy, although LiveNation may have a presale
  13. Here's some New England tour vibes for you from Kentucky!!

  16. Sorry to re-rail the thread here... but after careful deliberation, not to mention a fair bit of peer pressure from the Winterlude crew, we've decided to go. I bought my earlybird tix yesterday, so all that's left are trivial matters like transportation and lodging. Three of us are going... myself, my wife (who isn't at all interested in the festival, but thinks that a few days in western MASS to go exploring the local sights and spa's while the other two go do festival stuff sounds pretty awesome), and my daughter (who is a college senior in arts administration and thinks that a rock fest
  17. I use my iPhone, with a free app from iHandy which is basically a digital alarm clock. You can set it to wake up to a specific song or playlist (doesn't have to be a ringtone). "Instrumental #2" from the YHF demo, which is "Let Me Come Home" without the lyrics, has been my wake up song for years. Beck's "Phase" is also really good to wake up to. I really don't care for anything harsh first thing in the morning. And lyrics would just confuse me that early.
  18. Tyler is a phenomenal guitarist. He opened for Califone a year or two ago, first time I had heard him. Good stuff. Definitely like the idea of he and Glenn together.
