  1. Octavia! A little something for us Kentucky folks to share in the festivities.
  2. Last night's "Album of the Year" award going to Beck is only the third time this century that I have actually owned the album which won. It's possibly the first time that one of my favorite artists won that award since 1968's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
  3. Since we're running out of time to play "guess the lineup", here's mine. In addition to the Wilco’s and TWEEDY and all the side projects... The top 4 that I fully expect to be there : - Richard Thompson - Jim Campilongo Trio - Cibo Matto - Lucius The top 4 realistically possible that I would really like to be there : - William Tyler - Califone - Yo La Tengo - Andrew Bird The top 4 “in my dreams” but not totally out the realm of possibility : - Joe Jackson - The New Pornographers - St. Vincent - Beck
  4. Does anyone have the TM or LiveNation presale PW for Cincy? There is a LiveNation presale for Indy Murat (PW = BEATBOX) Thursday at 10:00, but I haven't seen anything for Cincy.
  5. conversation with my wife at breakfast this morning... me: Hey honey, the Wilco's are going to be in Louisville in May, and tickets are going on sale today. Do you want to go with me? Mrs: I thought you were going to see them up at that museum thing this summer? me: Well, yeah. Mrs: So you're going to both of them? me: Umm, yeah. And there's also one in Cincy that same week in May. Mrs: I thought you said you were going to the one in Louisville? me: I'm pretty sure I'll go to both of the ones here too, plus the museum thingie. Mrs: Oh, OK. I'd rather go to the Louisville one. I like
  6. Yeah, the Louisville pre-sale was much kinder than the Cincy one. I got 3rd row on the Pat/John side (sec 3) near the middle. Will have to wait for Friday to try Cincy, although LiveNation may have a presale

  10. Sorry to re-rail the thread here... but after careful deliberation, not to mention a fair bit of peer pressure from the Winterlude crew, we've decided to go. I bought my earlybird tix yesterday, so all that's left are trivial matters like transportation and lodging. Three of us are going... myself, my wife (who isn't at all interested in the festival, but thinks that a few days in western MASS to go exploring the local sights and spa's while the other two go do festival stuff sounds pretty awesome), and my daughter (who is a college senior in arts administration and thinks that a rock fest
  11. I use my iPhone, with a free app from iHandy which is basically a digital alarm clock. You can set it to wake up to a specific song or playlist (doesn't have to be a ringtone). "Instrumental #2" from the YHF demo, which is "Let Me Come Home" without the lyrics, has been my wake up song for years. Beck's "Phase" is also really good to wake up to. I really don't care for anything harsh first thing in the morning. And lyrics would just confuse me that early.
  12. Tyler is a phenomenal guitarist. He opened for Califone a year or two ago, first time I had heard him. Good stuff. Definitely like the idea of he and Glenn together.
  13. Still spinning my favorite Christmas present. This is such a treasure trove of goodness...
  14. Has anyone ever sung a Wilco song to audition for American Idol?
  15. Wilco thing - my first Wilco show on June 30, 2005 in Louisville. The last night of the AGIB tour, and the guys were pretty wiped out. About halfway through the show, Jeff does all his "thank you's" for Stan, for all the tech's, for Andy selling T-shirts, for Jason the tour manager. Then he says "And here's the sappy part... I want to thank all my friends up here on stage... (pause... chokes up)... because a little over a year ago, it didn't look like we were gonna be touring at all any more..." (chokes up more) "...and they stood by me like nobody's ever stood by me... and I love 'em"... (
  16. Merry Christmas VC, whomever and wherever you may be...
  17. Jimmy Page is also on my list. Joe Jackson is probably the top of my bucket list currently.
  18. Thanks again to everyone in line who signed the sign on Friday night. And a special thanks to the great guys at the Loft, Mark and Tom (pictured), who got the sign to a place of prominence in the Loft for all to enjoy!!!
