  1. The song's in D. There's no key changes, the bridge (solo section) just focuses on a different section of the song, but the progressions have already been used. Similar to Impossible Germany's solo section which focuses on the G-Em-Am progression.
  2. I didn't know all those Summerteeth songs were written then...

  4. I'll give him that, he used to be good. Stevie always said Jimmy was his idol. And the T'birds stuff is good for what it is. But something happened after Stevie died, and Jimmy kinda lost his spirit. Family Styles is a great album by the Vaughan brothers. Jimmy even played rhythm on a few tracks like Couldn't Stand the Weather. Hate is a strong word, but I haven't been impressed by Jimmy in while and his ego is bigger than any arena he plays in
  5. Personally, I hate Jimmie Vaughan. He's living off the success of his brother. And as a guitarist, he sucks...really awful. I saw him open for Dylan last summer, I went in expecting some good blues (not SRV good, but solid). Man was I wrong.
  6. I prefer Long Time Ago to Please Be Patient With Me.
  7. anybody feel like PMing me a copy?
  8. look at John, fucking beardo.
  9. it's an amazing song, absolutely love it.
  10. I've seen Elvis Costello there twice, it's a decent venue, not my favorite. I've got decent seats for this one, but I'll also be going to the Pines.

I can only help you with John's stuff. The bass he used on Conan was a newer Fender Jaguar bass, 4 strings. It's a good bass, Pino Palladino used one on tour with The Who before it was stolen. He has his Lakland, but he also uses a Fender Precision ('68ish?), as well as two Jazz basses (one with chrome bridge and neck pickup covers as well as flatwound strings, the other standard), a Hofner bass (not McCartney style) with flatwounds, as well as a six-string bass which he told me he used on this record for the first time since Summerteeth.

  14. Well, since the first time I've heard the record with headphones on, I've noticed two things. 1) this is an amazing album. and 2) at about 2:23-2:24 in You Are My Face, there's a noticeable edit. The drums (which are mixed sparsely to the right generally) get more defined and more apparent in the left speaker. This could either be where they spliced the tape of two takes, or it could be that they spliced the tape and forgot to add the same amount of reverb on the kit. Either way, it ends at about 2:27-2:28 with the drums panning back to the right, and a noteworthy dynamic change in t
  15. Conan, and I imagine them playing it in the loft.
  16. That was a great blog, I agreed with everything he said.
  17. I liked Driving Rain. I'm actually looking forward to this record.
  18. that made me cringe a little bit. And I was just thinking last night "wow, I haven't listened to Sufjan in a while."
