i agree about the guitar comment. i've always loved ryan's guitar playing, mostly acoustic...but since CR and JCN and now ET he definitely is a rocking mood. the guitar sound sounds great. his attitude and songwriting has always been more of topic then his guitar playing. cant wait to see him (if he ever shows up)

Uncle Tupelo's version of Effigy
Smokestack Joe replied to the letter k's topic in Someone Else's Song
UT was a great band, a great gritty sounding rock band. Their cover of Effigy blew me away as did Susie Q. i miss those guys. i often wonder if they were still together what they would sound like. -
what do you mean "slow down?" im fine.

Has anyone mentioned this yet? not a big deal, just funny to me, probably a coincidence im sure, just funny Ryan Adams Blue Sky Blues Wilco Sky Blue Sky what's next? Son Volt: Japan is Likely.. (that wasnt funny.)

wow the Brewers looked great and Sheets looked even better. Watch out for the Milwaukee Brewers this year!!!!!
-
people want to over-analyze music and try to find the missing puzzle piece in song. that is all fine but also music is great for what it just IS. thats why i like wilco, you can dig it and appreciate it for its simple sides, just grooving to the music, instead of trying to analyze stuff.

Opening Day for Midwest Beer Lovers
Smokestack Joe replied to IATTBYB's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
yes i enjoy the Oberon very much. -
early take on the record as i listened 4-5 times (sorry working lots) Either Way - lyrically beautifully, musically safe, decent opener but not even close to wilco's best opener Misunderstood but better then Wilco's worst opener Can't Stand It You Are My Face - becoming a Wilco classic Impossible Germany - one of my new favorites, Tweedy/Cline guitar clash, i envision the Flaming Lips playing this song, great recorded version and excellent live song Sky Blue Sky - brings me back to Being There, although i like the old title better Side With the Seeds - Nels Cline is a badass, light

i think it is about the music fan, or Tweedy as the music fan.
-

well that is the charm about Green Bay and its fans, small town with pro team, lots of fans, pride in team, supportive. i'd like to get to columbus for a game someday.
-
nothing against columbus, oh (i like the town nice) but the acquistion of a pro sports team, mainly an NHL team, is one of the weirdest to me. but Im a Green Bay Packer fan so i can relate to a small town pro team environment.

i too am a bruins fan since 1988 Stanley Cup finals. i was a big Bourque/Neely/Moog fan. plus i read a book on Bobby Orr and i styled my defenseman game after him. Im a big WI Badgers fan and John Byce went to the Bruins in 1990 scored that goal ten seconds into the Cup game. awesome. Im a big Phil Kessel fan, he's from Madison WI, he had a great game last night. but you are right, bruins fan watching the playoffs from the outside.

he played a ton of new songs at the show, they were all in the same vein as his other music but equally as amazing. Shepherd's Dawg is the title. oh cant wait!

how does one become involved in a show like this? i understand it is a bidding thing. it seems like the same people get to see this show every year. just wondering how to get involved.
