i thought radiohead said they weren't releasing albums anymore? also, gaslight anthem's new one, "american slang" comes out mid-may, if i recall correctly.
-
well he's in that new side project, Broken Bells. i think that's as close as we're getting to The Shins. Didn't they get a new drummer and bass player last year? I know Mercer had some material worked up...guess he decided not to use it. bah.

Bad albums by bands you love...

exactly. production values are kinda low, but the songs make up for it. Sign In The Window and Time Passes Slowly are my favorite from it. -

New Morning - Bob Dylan. somethin about this album makes me like it even though it's pretty bad. -
if you haven't heard The Swimming Song, i'd suggest you get on that right away.

how much did that cost you? -

well thanks for clearing some stuff up. any recommendations for a better unit than the ux1? i think i'm stuck with it for a while, which is fine. at this point i'm just wanting to learn how to make it all work. -
I know it probably won't happen, but i'd love for them to redo "Headlights Look Like Diamonds" like they redid No Cars Go.
-
i totally understand how people can think he's corny, but it takes balls to rip off a story about how bad your life could've been then make that little hand gesture air punch thing. love that guy.

the POD i got because of the anti-latency soundcard or whatever it is. and it really is magical how well it kills latency. i think if i keep the mic gain down I might be okay. we'll see. so where does the preamp go in my chain? before or after the ux1? -
the only reason they're doing it, i figure, is because Regine is from Haiti originally, and it's for a Haiti-related commercial.

I'm using an sm57 connected to a line 6 ux1. Maybe I had the mic gain up too much. Also, can you suggest a good preamp? -

Anyone have any tips for removing hiss in recordings? Or preventing it? I'm using Ableton Live 7, and I put some EQs and compression on a track, but when converting it to .wav the hiss becomes much louder it seems. -
i think the auto tune is only on one song..

how can you not love Prine?

this is wonderful. the story is so sad, but it is so well laid out and lyricized. A+.

for what it's worth, paul simon sounds like about 100,000 South African records. Although I always hear more west african on his stuff on Graceland.
-
ha! it is kinda similar. i'm liking the album. they'll always be a band for me that i can throw on and not have to think a lot about it. there's a place for that. ps - you can say what you want about the Paul Simon comparisons, but his voice is getting kind of similar to Paul's on this newest record. Musically not as much, but Ezra's voice is taking on that very 'soft' quality Paul's has always had to me.

this is two things: 1) One of the best live albums ever. 2) The best thing ever released with Bruce Springsteen's name on it.

Practice Practice Practice....
cooperissup3r replied to BreezyGrass's topic in Solid State Technology
i tend to practice while applying, ie, i turn a song on and play along. play solos has kind of lost its mystique to me, so i'm trying to learn new chords and changes to liven up new songs i write. -
i'll preface this by saying i love TTMOE. he's great, music is excellent. that said, i think it's funny how some bands are required to "change" their direction every album these days, and some don't and no one complains about it. weird how that works.

exactly the same thing that happened to me. Wasn't feeling it at first, but I love it now.
