  1. That's a great video, as is One Sunday Morning. And the same person uploaded Via Chicago. All three terrific recordings with excellent sound.
  2. Here's what an influence you guys have on me. This morning I downloaded (after having BOUGHT and PAID FOR) Soft Bulletin, Embryonic and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. Looking forward to listening to all this over the next couple of days, to enhance my enjoyment of the concert on Thursday.
  3. Yeah, I'm really not that familiar with their stuff. I'm going primarily on the recommendation of this guy I met whose company makes Glenn Kotche's drumheads. He's a big fan and couldn't say enough about how brilliant he thinks Wayne Coyne is. (He sat on some music industry panel with him recently.) So that, plus it's near Halloween, and I expect there'll be some amount of pyrotechnics. What little I've heard of the music itself I agree isn't really my thing, but I'm trying to go in with open ears. Also, I just watched most of the Fearless Freaks DVD, to get more of a feel for what the show wi
  4. I think the 6-hour song is supposed to be a little something to accompany you during whatever trip you're on.
  5. I read something about the gummy skull too. I'm going to see them on Thursday night at the Norva in Norfolk and was planning to get there a little early to check out the merch table. I'd be glad to pick one up for you if they have it for sale there. PM me if you're interested.
  6. I suspect the price probably kept the interest down to mainly big fans. Which would make me very happy if I were going to this show, because I always feel that the shows for diehard fans are the best. Congrats to all of you lucky enough to get to go to this one!
  7. Lots and lots of new stuff on Wilcoworld now. Jolly Banker is streaming, there's a fabulous new photo gallery from their recent N. American tour, and I thought I saw a tweet about a new Montreal show up in the roadcase, but I don't see that one yet. But wow, are those pictures great!
  8. Yes, and he also said something complimentary about them at Sasquatch. I think they had been on the bill earlier. Kinda makes me wonder how much these little tossed-off remarks are things we who are inclined to read the tea leaves should pay attention to, as early harbingers of what's to come.
  9. I voted for Misunderstood but it was a close call between that and IATTBYH. And Art of Almost, while I absolutely LOVE it, just hasn't had enough settling in time yet. Misunderstood just throws down the gauntlet, I think, in the same way that Art of Almost does.
  10. Yeah, and those buses look nice and roomy. I would imagine it's not all the comforts of home, but not quite like a struggling local band in bunk beds or reclining seats. Just out of curiosity, has anyone on here ever seen the inside of either the band's or the crew's buses? Care to tell us how they're outfitted? I think about Jeff's comment on Ashes or maybe Sunken Treasure where he talks about how the bus smells like hell because of all the Amy's frozen burritos they've been eating. It's a good thing they all seem to be such good friends, and maybe their diets are improving!
  11. This has been posted before, somewhere, but the song started out as a poem in Adult Head.
  12. I was actually pretty shocked that the whole discussion just completely disappeared from Facebook, but Jeff's original statement is still on the News tab of wilcoworld.net.
  13. OK, he's part of the problem. As human beings, we're weak, we'll look for a loophole or something advantageous to us personally every time. That's why we need a representative democracy and regulation, and we need a functioning government and elected leaders, to keep our baser instincts in check.
  14. Jesus, could it be Solid Sound? Probably too much to hope for, but when the hell are they going to break their silence?? I have summer vacation plans to make!
  15. I honestly haven't been following the detailed coverage of the Wall Street protests, but I pretty much agree with Moss and others--the anger and frustration is totally understandable, even if there isn't a unified, coherent mission statement or a clear path forward. It actually reminds me of last year's Rally to Restore Sanity in DC. There we were--hundreds of thousands of people, all gathered together--for what, exactly? Not everybody had the same reasons for being there, and there wasn't any real followup to capitalize on whatever seed of momentum might have been sown, but there was still so
  16. Oh. my. god. Haven't even finished watching this yet but it is the coolest thing ever. We are fans of the best band in the world! I love the ingenuity they display. Can't wait to just watch it over and over, when I'm not home on a lunch break.
  17. How much more embarrassing to not even have recognized that the reference was to Homer. D'oh!
  18. Pretty sure that is the Ryman. Jeff was wearing that hat both nights. The cool pictures from the loft, taken by Zoran Orlic, are still up under Roadcase, if you're jonesin' for some pretty pics of the boys. I love the ones from that photo shoot.
  19. Hmmm indeed. Wonder what this is all about? Some conference they're at?
  20. Is this maybe because we are The Lonely 1? Nah, couldn't be.
  21. Not tonight, dear. I have a migraine.
  22. This is such a great example of why I'm addicted to this board. I love how you expressed (so much better than I could) what's so magical and delicate about this song. I also love the way his voice goes in the line where he says "something sad keeps moving, so-o-o-o I-I-I. . .wandered around." That's one of my favorite vocal parts from the song. I noticed when he's sung it live recently sometimes he draws it out like on the record and other times he doesn't.
  23. Re Shake It Off Me, it would probably have to be the classic choice, IATTBYH--I just can't get over "take you from the inside, baby hold on tight." Oooh-kay.
