In fact, that site is now greatly expanded with tons more content, including lots of Uncle Tupelo shows, Tweedy solo shows and at least a sampling of various Wilco members' side projects. Oh, this is so exciting to hear! I'm going to see him on Feb. 4 in Charlottesville. It was really hard to get the ticket, because it's a tiny theater (Jefferson) and apparently it sold out almost immediately after it was announced. Finally found a ticket on Craigslist and will actually be driving the guy I got the ticket from to the show. (He's on the way.) Anyway, I had no idea what to expect, and sometimes highly anticipated events like this don't live up to your expectations, so this just builds the anticipation. That was an obscure unreleased Uncle Tupelo song called Wherever, requested by another VCer who's also a taper. I think it was the second night of the two shows at the Vic, so 3/31/12. I just bought the mp3 download ysterday and haven't listened to it yet, either, but I'm going to see them at the Jefferson Theatre (great, small venue in Charlottesville) next week, so I'm looking forward to getting familiar with it before the show.

I am very excited and surprised about a new album. And Autumn Defense just posted on Facebook that they've got another new one coming out too. What with all of Nels's side projects and one-offs, and Jeff producing records by Mavis Staples, Low and Kids These Days, it seems like these guys are just bursting with restless energy. I think Mikael is setting up a recording studio in California too. This bodes well for some fresh, creative turns in the music, I think.

I was at the Richmond, VA show at the end of March, which was also great. The one, two punch of that show and this one, which was streamed, really solidified my love. And of course the other memorable thing about this show was that they announced the first Solid Sound festival. I remember chatting online "What did he say? Mass mocha??"

No, 28 grand each! I'm not the historian here, but I think that's one more show than he's ever done before, and I'm also pretty sure it's the highest price per show ever.

I've only seen Justin live once, and it was a solo show, so I don't really have a valid basis for comparison, but I think I would agree with you. I've seen several recordings where he's with a band or at least one other player, and while they were really good, I missed the intimacy of the solo show. I agree with everything you said--his connection with the audience is just remarkable! I've mentioned it before but not for a while--if you're on Twitter, you really should subscribe to his tweets. They're not particularly clever or informative, but they're just so random, they make me laugh out

Just curious--did Jeff or the interviewer make any reference to the school shootings when he sang You Are Not Alone? That song came up on my iPod over the weekend and it hit me as particularly poignant and consoling. Sorry to bring up a horrible topic, but given the timing of the interview, I wondered if they might have made some connection.
