  1. Although my love for MMJ has dwindled in recent years, I'm looking forward to a Jim solo record. I have not cared at all for what Jim has done with MMJ on the last two records, although I'm excited to see what he can do solo. I also hope it will be a success, and perhaps our friend Mr. Tweedy will notice this success (I would say MMJ and Wilco are on a similar level of popularity) and do one of his own.
  2. Try getting a sitter for the night and have a Wilco date night. Grab a movie, maybe some wine, and prepare Wilco a nice candlelight dinner. Send Wilco a no-reason, just-because-I-love-you text.. Bonus points if you make it a little naughty. Just a couple ideas for finding that spark again..
  3. MMJ - "Highly Suspicious". The entire song is just one continuous fart sound effect.
  4. This album is the real deal. I haven't heard the whole thing yet, but the first few songs are excellent. I haven't listened to them since Yellow and it's a lot different than their earlier stuff. Love it.
  5. I'll have to checkout the bonus tracks. Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Band Of Horses Fan... They'll have to do much worse than this to run me off.... I was just expecting more Rock from Mirage Rock... Maybe it's because I became a fan during the days of "The First Song" and "The Funeral" which is like night and day compared to the new album.
  6. I don't usually take pitchfork reviews seriously, but I think they hit it on the head this time. http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/17042-mirage-rock/
  7. I really tried to like it but I couldn't get through a single listen. Truly terrible...
  8. If anyone is into Civil War games, the game that I work on got picked up by matrix games: http://www.matrixgames.com/news/960/Scourge.of.War:.Gettysburg.and.Expansions.Now.Available!
  9. I avoided a total geek out when meeting Jeff by complimenting him on his performance that night.. He seemed genuinely appreciative. Instead of "holy crap I'm you're biggest fan!", I think artists appreciate comments about their performances.
  10. I would love to see it played live once, but that would be it. Sort of like when they opened with Sunken Treasure three out of the four times I saw them in recent years. I love the song and everything, but after the 3rd time in a row I was like "really?".
  11. Hey, there was that one black dude they kept showing in the audience!
  12. Oh it has nothing to do with Kanye being great or not, it is just around the time when Bon Iver started to suck.
  13. I don't get Springsteen.. never have... Don't worry, I have already pre-deducted Rock points for that statement.
  14. That's why I've never really been big into music journalism. Crow is right. Most of it is very snarky and they all seem to follow the same cliche's. I mean, I don't think anyone at Pitchfork has an anus. At least they don't think they do... When deciding to purchase an album, I either come here or skip right to the comments sections of album reviews..
  15. Yeah, I liked Bon Iver when he came out with his first EP.. And he was great live opening for Wilco in a room of about 50 people.. But when he started working with Kanye, it was all down hill from there.. And I agree, Black Keys shouldn't be on that list. They may be a hipster band to some, but they kick ass way too much to be labeled as a "worst hipster band".
  16. This list made me chuckle. Some of the commentary is just brutal.. http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/2012/08/worst_hipster_bands_all_time_c.php
  17. Yeah, Justin Townes Earle is probably number one for me. Bad experience Banter - B.B. King. At first his stories were great, but after two hours of them and only playing 3 or 4 songs, it got very old.... But he's B.B. King so he can do that...
  18. I would say Los Lobos is pretty rated. They have won Grammy's, had a number one hit, and are pretty much the band everyone thinks of when someone mentions Latin Rock.
  19. What a way to break up a craft group! Blast a Nels style noise solo on your new axe! Just don't expect to get laid anytime soon...
  20. This is quotes from one of my favorite facebook sites, "I fucking love science". They hit the nail on the head.
  21. Fenway - Everyone must go there once Dodgers Stadium - Dodger Dog and a beer.. Doesn't get much better.. But lock your car doors.. Tigers Stadium - Too young to really remember Wrigley Field - Getting to see Harry Caray sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" was all that really mattered. Turner Field - Nothing special but I was once a huge Braves fan. Royals Stadium (Kauffman) - I'm from KC so I went there a lot as a child. Gotta love the fountain and waterfall display. I know there a couple more that I went to when I was very young but I can't recall them.
  22. I agree that Evil Urges has a few decent songs, but doesn't have the flow and number of gems that Z has. Circuital - Black Metal is a fun song and The Day is Coming is pretty good (love the Bonham style drums), but those are the only two that I'll really listen to..
