  1. I hope they don't come to South Carolina or other areas relatively close to me. I've already bought too many damn tickets to other concerts lately..
  2. Don't get me wrong the Raconteurs rock, but when is someone going to tell the bass player that he has bitch hair?
  3. It's crazy.. I remember seeing Justin open for Wilco a couple years ago. He came on early when there were maybe 100 people in the venue, and no one really seemed interested. Now he's in a photo on the CNN website biting a Grammy.
  4. Man oh man. Really looking forward to his next album. I hope he keeps doing the country thing for good, he has really found his calling with it. It's such a refreshing alternative to the top 40 garbage refered to as country that you hear on the radio.
  5. I'm a huge Daniel Romano fan... The only thing I'm not a fan of is that he won't tour in the states! And holy shit I've never seen that music video for Time Forgot. Awesome...
  6. Yeah, I wasn't bashing the song at all.. I really like the tune, but it is very Strokes... Which isn't a bad thing.
  7. Seriously, it is a Strokes song with a different singer. Where the hell have the Strokes been lately anyway? Oh yeah, they are writing tunes for Dr. Dog.
  8. No, I thought they sucked balls before they won the award.
  9. I guess I need to hear this Wasting Light album. But I've never been a fan of the Foo.. In my opinion, Dave should have stayed behind the drums.
  10. I was hooked on first listen. Easy Beat is still my favorite Dr. Dog record though.... That might be why I like this one so much, it's raw and experimental like Easy Beat.. Warrior Man is one of my favorites.. Very Beatles-esque. I typically like Scott's songs better, but like RainDog mentioned, Toby really hits it out of the park on this record. Edit: I might actually be one of the few that likes Warrior Man.. lol.. Pitchfork competely destroyed that song in their review, but who really takes Pitchfork seriously anymore..
  11. This album is awesome.. It has so much personality.. So many go to songs... "How Long Must I Wait" is probably my favorite, "Heavy Light" is a close second. And of course, Toby's bass playing is second to none.
  12. They are on Conan tonight. Funny how on Conans website, it says: "Dr. Dog Their new album is Enter the Void"
  13. So I had to sneak a peak over the weekend... I will have to disagree wholeheartedly about it being below average, or disappointing... I absolutely love it so far. I can see how one might be looking for the poppier sound of their last two albums, but this one goes back to the Easy Beat and pre-Easy Beat days. It's very raw, very gritty, very free... Brilliant. Looking forward to picking up the hard copy today.
  14. "Not as catchy" and "below average" are usually what people call albums that turn out to be brilliant... I have abstained for now, but I can't wait to hear it now...
  15. Hmm.. Is the quality good on the leak? I will still pick it up on release date, but never hurts to sneak a peak...
  16. This song is effin awesome: http://simplesong.theshins.com/
  17. Really looking forward to this, if it does happen... Their website hasn't said squat, either has their label, but I heard that they leaked a "we just finished the new record" post on Facebook that was quickly taken down.
  18. I agree that the Hall of Fame is a little too lax... It should be saved for the greatest rock bands in history.. Beatles, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, etc. Chli Peppers? Nope. Beastie Boys were/are definitely great but not even really a rock band. They are their own genre.
  19. Exactly. Not to bash any of the journalists on VC because I know there are a few here. You guys/gals are all great.. I'm just talking in general.
  20. That goes for any article on the web. Even the major news sites get the basic facts wrong all the time. Journalism in general has suffered enormously over the past 10 years or so.
  21. Yeah, he's a super nice, down to earth dude. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Asheville a couple years ago at one of his Singers shows. I shook his hand and complimented him on a great performance, and he was genuinely appreciative. I'm sure he gets that all the time, but I could tell he really apreciated the compliment. And if you haven't been to a Singers show yet, don't miss the chance.. It is complete madness. Awesome..
